Warrawong offers a unique opportunity to get amongst the Australian bush and wildlife in a protected habitat. With over 100 species of birds and many native mammals, Warrawong Wildlife Park is a great day out and an educational one. Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary was first established in 1969 when dairy land was revegetated with native trees and shrubs to attract native animals and birds. In 1982 the 35 acres was enclosed with feral-proof fencing. Once the fence was completed, the bird population flourished and the release of many native animals began. Today, Warrawong is home to 100 species of birds and many native mammals, most of which are nocturnal. Warrawong offers a unique opportunity to get amongst the Australian bush and wildlife in a protected habitat. This wildlife park in Adelaide is only 20 minutes from the city, so make a trip to Warrawong, one of your things to do! Warrawong means: water on the side of the hill, so don\\'t expect anything but a good incline to descend and come back up....

Carrick Hill is fortunate in being one of the few period homes in Australia to survive with its original contents almost completely intact and its grounds undiminished.

The Mount Lofty Botanic Garden overlooking the Piccadilly Valley features displays of cool temperate plants, which thrive on the eastern slopes of Mount Lofty. Spring and autumn in the Garden are both magnificent, with stunning mass displays of magnolias, rhododendrons, camellias and roses adding a splash of colour to the gardens. The sweet scented ATCO Heritage Rose Garden, featuring both modern and old-fashioned roses is particularly popular. Several picturesque walking trails take you up and down the gardens seven valleys, including the Fern Gully - home to one of the richest collections of ferns in Australia. The Bank SA Nature Trail is wonderful at all times of the year allowing visitors to experience the diversity of original plants in the Garden. Yangarra Estate Vineyard is nestled below the Mount Lofty Ranges that surround the famous McLaren Vale wine region. Bordered by the pristine Gulf of St. Vincent and these ranges, McLaren Vale is well known for its fantastic warm climate and varied soils, producing some of Australia's most famous wines. Old Government House lies in the heart of Belair National Park, 11 kilometres south of Adelaide. It was built on the Government Farm as South Australia's first official vice-regal summer cottage residence (1860-1880), and was used by some of the early governors of South Australia; MacDonnell (1855-62) and Daly (1862-68). The Old Government House buildings now reflect how the wealthy of the Victorian era lived, with the main house displaying the style and accoutrements of the well-to-do and the servants' quarters the more modest furnishings of a working family. Featuring an elegant terrace and South Australia's first indoor plunge pool it stands as an excellent example of Victorian-style architecture. Visitors can also take a leisurely stroll through the one-acre garden; featuring a collection of cottage plants and flowers as cultivated in Victorian times, heritage roses and mature trees. The buildings are open on Sundays and public holidays from 1pm to 4pm. Guides from the 'Friends of Old Government House' conduct tours and show the different styles and furnishings in each building and share fascinating stories about this grand residence. The Flagstaff Hill Golf Club is a picturesque golf course that provides 18 holes of variety and challenge suitable for golfers of all standards, with a par 72 for men (blue ACR 72, white ACR 71) and par 73 (red ACR 74) for women. Several of the lines we stock are not available anywhere else in Australia. We are situated in the arcade off the main street directly opposite the cafe. Sonya's Textile Gallery and Studio is a working hand weaving Studio and Gallery in a beautiful rural setting on the Fleurieu Peninsula just 45 minutes from the central business district, probably the smallest working weaving mill in South Australia. Sonya is creating exclusive and exciting fabrics, scarves, shawls and throws in fine Chinese silk and Australian Merino wool. They are hand dyed in a rainbow of colours in unique patterns in techniques she has developed. Visitors can view items being woven on custom built looms.
