Dolphin Swim Australia Logo and Images

Dolphin Swim Australia

Nelson Bay DAlbora Marina, Nelson Bay Teramby Rd, Nelson Bay NSW 2315

Dolphin Swim Australia is the first ever permitted wild dolphin swim in NSW. Because of this amazing breakthrough in human/dolphin interaction, DSA was birthed into existence. DSA utilizes the natural behavior of dolphins to ride the bow waves of boats. participants are placed in the water with dolphins by securing them to a mermaid line, which is strung between the pontoons of a 50ft. catamaran. Once safely secured, the boat tows participants through the water at an engaging speed for the dolphins. The friendly, social dolphins mount the bow and move about the swimmers. It is a great treat for both humans and dolphins alike. The most amazing thing about this particular swim is that the viewer gets to see what it is like to be in the middle of a traveling pod of dolphins.

It is a once in a lifetime experience and promises a view of the dolphins world unlike anything ever witnessed. Dolphin Swim Australia is also proud to be conducting research with the common dolphins. We are now on exciting ground and yielding great results. Until now, there has been very little known about this species of dolphins, and we are finding that we actually have resident pods within the Port Stephens Marine Park boundaries. With the purchase of a DSA swim, you are helping to support our research and helping us to learn even more about this beautiful species of oceanic dolphin.

Port Stephens Parasailing Logo and Images

Port Stephens Parasailing

1 Teramby Road, Nelson Bay NSW 2315

Port Stephens parasailing is an adventure activity offering the ultimate experience of Port Stephens.  Enjoy breathtaking views as you soar 100 metres into the air on board a ballooning parachute. The parasailing trip can take high flyers either solo or tandem soaring up to 100m above the water.

You will be winched into the air guided by the boat below you.  You can drop gently in the water and be hiked back into the air. The choice is yours to fly solo or tandem, stay dry or take a dip.  The new venture uses the latest hydraulic technology to release you on and off the vessel.

No experience is necessary all that is required is to relax and enjoy the view. Observe the marine life as Port Stephens is resident to approximately 80 dolphins so whether you are in the air or on enjoying the boat ride dolphins seem just out of reaching distance, enabling you to take pleasure in their playful displays.

Your flight will last from six to eight minutes.  At the conclusion of your flight you will be winched back onto the boat platform. "The safest way to parasail is by landing on the boat's platform" says Ian Cutbush, Managing Director, Port Stephens Parasailing. When not in flight, you will enjoy an exciting boat ride whilst others take their turn, the maximum time on the boat will be 1 hour.

Prices:
Single - $90.00 (One person Paraflying on their own)
Tandem - $145.00 (Two people flying together)

Imagine Cruises

5104 Nelson Bay Road, Nelson Bay NSW 2315

We often see Humpback Whales performing “Spy Hops”. Spy hopping is when the whale rises in a vertical movement straight up out of the water head first.

Humpback whales spy hop to get a better view of where they are or to look at the people on a whale watching vessel. Whale Watch AustraliaThey really do like to look at us as much as we like to look at them. A spy hop right in front of Imagine is a wonderful experience.

It is a special moment that you get to look at a Humpback Whale while it is looking at you.Humpback whales have very good vision so most spy hops don’t bring the whales eye out of the water but they are looking at you from underneath the water. In clear water the whales body is also visible underneath the water so the whale’s head will slowly rise above the water, sometimes to a great height, it will hold that position and then slowly sink back below the water.

The whale is able to hold it’s position above the water not by swimming but by using it’s natural buoyancy and positioning it’s pectoral fins. When this happens close to Imagine it is very impressive, you are looking at one of the world’s largest creatures while it is looking at you saying Hello!
