The Lobethal Archives and Historical Museum is a German Pioneer Museum with displays and exhibits telling the story of both the German and English history of South Australia. Items on display include colonial artefacts from everyday life of the time including examples of needlecrafts and woodwork and numerous pictures of local industries and agriculture. The original Lutheran Church with the elevated pulpit and the unique blue and white wood work is part of the historic church precinct which includes the Lutheran School, the new Church Complex and remnants of the Old Lutheran Cemetery. Donations are collected at the door.

The old Onkaparinga Woollen Mills, in Lobethal, now provides a home for the combined winery and cellar door. Gumeracha Country Market is open on the third Sunday of the month (except January), from 10am to 3pm or later, in the Gumeracha Town Hall and surrounds. Most of the stall holders make their own displays and offer a wide range of goods including hand knitted items, handmade cards, home spun wool, handcrafted marquetry, quilting products and candles. You will also find jewellery; bric a brac, embroidery, home baked delicious treats, a wide variety of plants and herbs, second hand treasures, local made Olive Oil, sewing crafts of great variety and local vegies and fruit in season. At the Market Cafe you can sit and relax while treating yourself to homemade scones and jam and cream while drinking some fine coffee or tea! The Christmas Market will be held on 21st December 2014. Woodside is just 40 minutes from the central business district and so this trail can be done on a day trip or explored more fully on an overnight stay in one of our wonderful bed and breakfasts. All producers are within 15 minutes drive of each other and the trail allows visitors to experience the beautiful Adelaide Hills scenery as well as the delicious offerings by often very small, but high quality, producers. Birdwood in the northern Adelaide Hills (just under an hour's drive north-east of Adelaide city) is best known for the National Motor Museum housed in the historic mill featuring hundreds of vintage and classic vehicles. The museum tells the story of Australia's love affair with motoring through memorabilia including brochures and maps, tin signs, petrol bowsers, toys, models and photographs. The Bay to Birdwood car rally in September finishes here providing motoring enthusiasts a chance to see rare and valuable cars in action. It’s also the setting for the Rock and Roll Rendezvous in April (not taking place in 2020), celebrating the 50s, 60s and 70s through great cars, fashion and music. The Birdwood Motel with very spacious rooms is conveniently located next to the museum, while Mylkappa Cellar and Kitchen is just down the road.
