Formed in 1957, Camden Historical Society is instrumental in keeping history alive in the Camden area through the museum, and is responsible for the preservation and display of this heritage. The history of the Camden district is as old as Australia itself, and this unique heritage unfolds in the exhibited stories and displays as you wander through the large collection of Aboriginal and 20th century material, which has been donated by the people of the town and district. These things reflect the every day and familiar experiences that most people share - joy and grief, recreation and work, caring and learning, past and present. The museum of Australia's oldest, most decorated Regiment in the mainland's oldest (1820), heritage listed barracks. Trace the evolution of the weaponry, uniforms and equipment of the NSW Cavalry and famed Light Horse - from horses and lances through machine guns and tanks to contemporary armoured reconnaissance. With a retired Lancer as guide, hear stories of the Regiment's ceremonial duties at home and overseas as Vice-Regal Escort, and of its active service in the Boer War, in WWI as the First Light Horse at Gallipoli and Palestine, and in WWII in New Guinea and Borneo where it mounted what is to this day Australia's largest ever tank attack at Balikpapan. Hambledon Cottage House Museum is home to Parramatta and District Historical Society, which is celebrating 100 years. Experience the pleasure of colonial lifestyle with a guided tour of Hambledon Cottage. Hear Beethoven's music played on square piano. Discover Australian history researched by Society member guides. Exhibitions in the Lucas Gallery within the cottage are changed regularly. Hambledon Cottage is a NSW State Heritage listed historic cottage built in 1824, home to Penelope Lucas, governess to Elizabeth and John Macarthur's daughters. An elegant Colonial Georgian cottage filled with authentic 19th century furniture and objects. Australian red cedar four poster bed in the bedroom. Sandstock bricks, hand-made by convicts, laid in English Bond style with mortar strengthened with burnt shells from aboriginal middens can be seen in the kitchen and in the garden are heritage-listed Oaks planted in 1817, a reminder of England.

The Australian Golf Heritage Society aims to encourage the collection, recording and preservation of information and objects connected with the history of golf in Australia; verify the authenticity of items associated with that history; inform golfers, golf clubs, and the community in general of this information, and display these physical items in a manner which tells their story; and to promote hickory events as a celebration of the origins of the game. Its flagship in achieving these aims is the AGHS Museum, a collection of artefacts and information tracing the development of the game in Australia. Their current major exhibition is 'Golf and War', a collection of artefacts and stories acknowledging the contributions made by individual Australian golfers, Australian golf clubs, and Australian golf equipment manufacturers in times of conflict.

Mervyn Victor Richardson took 'borrowing your neighbours lawn mower' to a whole new level when he laid eyes on the petrol-driven rotary mower designed by neighbour Lawrence Hall, a Marine Engineer, in 1948. Visit the City of Canada Bay Museum and learn more. This is a social history museum containing over 1000 items including; clothing, household items, furniture, war memorabilia, office equipment, bric-a-brac, books, documents and photographs. Entry to the museum is free, but donations are always welcome.

Australia's first University Museum, and the largest public collection of archaeological artefacts in the country, featuring objects from ancient Egypt, Greece, Italy, Cyprus, the Middle East and northern Europe; ranging from mummies, Roman sculptures and Greek vases. The Near Eastern Collection contains artefacts ranging in date from the Natufian to the Roman periods, and includes stone tools, pottery, and bronze and iron artefacts. The Egyptian Collection contains material from all periods of ancient Egyptian history, from the Neolithic and Predynastic to the Dynastic and to the later Greek and Roman periods. The Cypriot Collection is one of the most important outside Cyprus. The Classical Collection contains material from ancient Greece and Italy, and other parts of the Mediterranean influenced by those cultures.

The Army Museum of New South Wales (AMNSW) is housed in the original 25-cell District Military Prison which was constructed in 1847. AMNSW collects preserves and interprets the history of the Military Forces of Britain, New South Wales and Australia and their service in New South Wales from the First Fleet to today and is part of a network of seventeen Army museums across the country. Victoria Barracks is one of the best known examples of military architecture in Australia. The Regency style Barracks were designed by Lieutenant Colonel George Barney, who also built Fort Denison and reconstructed Circular Quay. The barracks were constructed using locally quarried sandstone between 1841 and 1849 and were occupied by British troops until 1870 and by the New South Wales Military Forces and today is the home of the Army's Forces Command.

The Manly Art Gallery and Museum is only a four minute walk from Manly Wharf. Opened in 1930 by Manly Council, it was the first metropolitan regional gallery in New South Wales. The gallery has become a popular destination for thousands of local, interstate and international visitors. The gallery is a hub of community activity, as they present workshops, recitals and performances. The museum is dedicated to preserving Manly's unique history as one of Australia's most loved beach resorts. Opened in 1982, it focuses on the history of Manly and the Northern Beaches. The particular emphasis is on beach culture in the 20th century. Their collection includes examples of swimwear, Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, hats, towels, beachbags and longboards.
