Egg Rock Dive Site

40005 - The Keppels QLD 4700
Egg Rock is actually three rock pinnacles that rise from 30 metres to break the surface. Located in the Keppel Islands off Yeppoon, Egg Rock is always a reliable place to see schools of pelagic fish and other large marine life. This is a dive for more experienced divers, as not only is it deep, but often washed by currents. Exploring the walls, gutters and ledges at Egg Rock divers will find a great variety of corals, reef fish and invertebrate life. But these are easy overlooked as most divers will be too busy watching and photographing the schools of trevally, batfish and barracuda. Egg Rock is also a good place for divers to encounter wobbegongs, tawny nurse sharks, whitetip reef sharks, stingrays, eagle rays, turtles and sea snakes....

Child Island Dive Site

41337 - The Keppels QLD 4700
Child Island is one of the most exciting dive sites at the Keppel Islands off Yeppoon. Being a fair distance offshore, Child Island is best dived when conditions are calm, but this site nearly always has the best visibility in the area. Around Child Island are rocky reefs covered in coral in depths to 30 metres, and while you can jump in just about anywhere and have a great dive, the most action packed dive site would have to be The Gulch. This 30 metre deep channel between Child and Barren Islands features walls covered in wonderful corals, such as gorgonians, sea whips, black corals and soft corals. Pelagic fish cruise this gutter, so expect to see trevally, barracuda, batfish, mackerel and even cobia. Other species to look out for in The Gulch include wobbegongs, stingrays, gropers, eagle rays and sea snakes....

Snorkelling off either end of the beach gives access to a rocky reef covered in hard corals. You don’t have to go any deeper than four metres to see a great range of small colourful reef fish and some pretty corals. But Shelving Beach is also a good place to see stingrays and turtles....
