Boyd Lookout is located on the edge of Morton National Park and Macdonald State Forest with spectacular views of Lake Conjola and beaches to the south. It has a scenic lookout with views to the coast and of Pigeon House Mountain. Enjoy some of the short walks around the area, including the short walk to Granite Falls, with wildflowers such as boronia and flannel flowers blooming in the spring and early summer. Twelve Mile Road is an unsealed gravel road and may deteriorate at times due to weather conditions.

The Sussex Inlet 62nd Annual Family Fishing Carnival is a fishing competition in which all the family can participate, with over AUD25,000 in valuable prizes including cash to be won. The emphasis is on children enjoying the joys of fishing in a family atmosphere. Competitors can fish from the river bank, a boat, inside the basin or out in the ocean or off the rocks. This event is the longest running event of its type in Australia. A presentation night is held on the night after the competition finishes on the Thursday night. Birdwatchers will enjoy spotting unique and threatened species in the park, such as the noisy gang-gang cockatoos or sooty owls. The park is best-suited to independent, self-reliant bushwalkers, due to its abundance of unmarked but easily traversable trails. It’s also popular with cycling, motorcycling and 4WD enthusiasts, who frequently travel through the park to the adjacent Yerriyong State Forest.
