Lieutenant Governor’s Residence, Maitland Gaol, East Maitland NSW 2323
Nell Pyle, OAM, with the support of the community of Maitland, established the Australian Museum of Clothing and Textiles in 2005. Nell's express wish was for the collection to be available to the public. This collection has continued to grow over the years with interesting community donations, some of which have state, national or worldwide importance and covers clothing and accessories, textiles and related items. The Museum of Clothing (formerly AMCAT) is a charitable organisation, which is supported by donations, grants and memberships, with the help of volunteers to manage the collection. There are over five thousand items in the collection, each of which has to be processed and stored.
