Caribbean Gardens and Market has been operating since the 1970′s, when it started with only a handful of traders selling wares from their car boots and Water ski shows.

The 1812 Theatre Logo and Images

The 1812 Theatre

3 Rose Street, Ferntree Gully VIC 3156

Naturally what you see on stage is the public face of the 1812 Theatre but it only the tip of the iceberg. No production would be possible without a raft of support workers. The beautiful sets you see on our stage are the product of hours of planning and weeks of hard work by a dedicated band of volunteers.

Costumes are fashioned and designed by a small (and some might say shrinking) group of 1812ers. Lights have to be designed and operated and sound carefully engineered.

Frequent scenery and costume changes are seamlessly planned and executed by stage management teams, while your comfort and assurance of a pleasurable evening is the prime concern of our Front of House volunteers.

You will experience traditional toys, laughter and surprise in a family-friendly environment. Known for their immense collection of puppets and marionettes, the Geppetto's Workshop range includes over 600 such items from eight different countries. Both stores offer a unique range of specialty wooden toys from at least 26 countries including Germany, France, Thailand, Belgium, USA, Denmark, Taiwan and Australia. Most popular are the Russian matryoshka nesting-dolls, English Charlie Bears and vintage Japanese kokeshi. They are specialists in traditional and wooden toys including spinning tops and kaleidoscopes, fairy dresses, play kitchens, block trolleys, rocking horses, dolls houses and puzzles. Beyond the toys, they stock hundreds of collectible items and family games suitable for all ages. Geppetto's Workshop carefully selects products made from sustainable wood where-ever possible. Wooden products often improve with age, can be handed down, can be repaired and are durable and endearing. They typically avoid batteries because their philosophy is that the kids should make the sounds rather than the toy. Kids can play on the large BRIO train set, the Quadrilla marble run or the giant falling car tower. Experiment with countless assembled toys on display and benefit from the advice of the experienced staff. Try operating a real European marionette with guidance and training, or watch your children enjoy the amazing animal and character puppets. Major brands include Janod, Papo, BRIO, Monchhichi, Jim Shore, Folkmanis, Siku, Schleich, Djeco, Haba, Ravensburger, Bruder and dozens more. Their staff can recommend toys for home educational purposes or as gifts from birth to 14 years.

The museum is open for static display each weekend but most of the engines are in running order and on the last Sunday of the month a selection can be seen in operation.
