ACTIVITIES WATERVALE

A small winery established in 1993, owned by Tom and Sam Barry, grandsons of Jim Barry, with just under two hectares of Riesling. The cellar door is in an old house on the famous Florita vineyard built in the 1890's that was revamped in the 1920's and resembles an Italian villa. The vines are hand picked, hand pruned and dry grown. The wine is bottled under the Clos Clare. A Shiraz and Grenache is also produced. Wines are available through the cellar door, by mail order or from retail outlets in Adelaide and interstate and restaurants.

At the heart of Watervale, in the Clare Valley's south, the home of Annie's Lane is the heritage listed Quelltaler Estate dating back to 1863. Annie's Lane Cellar Door is cast in solid timber and surrounded by beautiful on-site picnic grounds so visitors can spend a day enjoying the delightful range of Clare Valley wines and fine foods. The Annie's Lane portfolio encompasses a versatile selection of wines with elegant fresh whites and generous fruit flavoured reds. Our staff are always ready to show you both current and past vintages and special editions exclusive to cellar door - so it's worth the visit!

Welcome to Crabtree Winery. We are a boutique estate winery in the heart of the historic and iconic, Watervale district of the Clare Valley. Visiting our cellar door, you can relax and enjoy our informal tasting room and courtyard that looks out over our 13 hectare vineyard and is within the produce cellar of the original 1850's homestead. Here we encourage you to take your time to savour our tasting range of premium wines that are all handcrafted and estate grown. The winery was founded in 1984 by Robert Crabtree who then quietly built a formidable reputation for award winning classic Watervale Riesling and traditionally styled premium Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with the popular alternative variety Tempranillo and innovative Rose, produced from grenache. Situated in a beautiful secluded valley north west of Watervale, the Olssen vineyard benefits from the shading effect of the steep valley sides, resulting in estate grown wines of great finesse and elegance. Helen and Kevin Olssen moved to the valley from Adelaide in 1987 and since 1994 have been producing wines under their own label. The range now includes Riesling, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mataro, Primitivo, Late Harvest Riesling, Carmenere and Shiraz. The Olssens' aim is to produce only limited quantities of high quality wines from their thirty-two hectares of vines. This unique vineyard in its wonderfully picturesque setting is one of Clare's best kept secrets, and is well worth seeking out.
