DEATH BE KIND is a project designed to research and exhibit contemporary art and collections that engage with the subject of death. Exhibitions so far in our program have explored the aesthetics of horror, the afterlife, the memorial and the museum display of collections.

Death is a certainty in all our lives; as soon as we are born we are capable of dying. DEATH BE KIND collects together ideas about memories and fears, acceptance and hope to explore the relationships between art and death.

Effemmera is a collaboration between seven western-suburbs-based visual artists.

STEPS GALLERY is a purpose built exhibition rental space on Lygon Street, Carlton South. It is owned & operated by the Meat Industry Employees Superannuation Fund since 1989. The space is ideal for work on walls, or small three dimensional works. Exhibitions have been held from all art mediums eg paintings, drawings, photographic, textiles, monotypes, jewellery, ceramics & sculptures.

The Gallery is a one room space. The entry is through the foyer of one of the City's most acclaimed modern buildings, with a highly polished parquetry floor and floor to ceiling glass doors opening into a glassed-in vibrant coffee shop at street level. Double doors lead from Cafe 62 into the gallery space, entry is also via the foyer area of the building. Rental of this space includes lighting, cleaned daily, hanging system (cables) are supplied. Use of the foyer area (if required) to hold opening functions.

The story of Illustrators Australia involved a lot more work from its founding members, but was born from the need to develop a collective that could work together to protect the rights of individual illustrators against exploitation by employers.

Originally conceived by Faye Plamka who put the call out to fellow illustrators in 1989, Illustrators Australia developed from discussions about mutual problems faced by illustrators. After much hard work figuring out the legalities of forming an association and establishing a code of conduct, IA was enthusiastically launched to the illustration community.

Since that time, IA has grown and developed in many ways. But one way we haven’t changed is that we have always been run by illustrators, for the benefit of illustrators. If you are interested in becoming part of the Illustrators Australia community why not join now.

red gallery is a multi-exhibition space in Melbourne's Fitzroy North arts precinct. Operating since 2002, red gallery is committed to presenting innovative contemporary art and welcomes interest from all artists and curators involved in contemporary work. With three large spaces, red gallery usually has three solo shows going at the same time. Young and emerging artists with little exhibition experience are often showcased alongside established artists who are already well represented in national and international collections. With such a broad range of artists and works, red gallery consistently presents exhibitions that are dynamic, diverse, and of a high standard

The Counihan Gallery In Brunswick is Council’s public art gallery and has a focus on presenting contemporary art exhibitions.

The gallery aims to promote and inspire innovation and diversity in the visual arts through its annual program of exhibitions. It also endeavours to encourage discussion and debate about new ideas and issues in contemporary art and culture through the public program of floor talks, forums and workshops.

The Gallery opened in 1999 and is named in honour of the Australian artist and activist Noel Counihan.

Gallery space available for hire for two/three week periods. Established and emerging artists or curators are encouraged to apply. Set fee includes rental, electricity, advertising and listings.

Purgatory Artspace selects proposals with a view to programming an exceptional calendar of exhibitions presenting a broad range of media and critical approaches from both emerging and established artists.

Purgatory Artspace welcomes proposals from:

- Practitioners working in all fields of visual arts, new media and design

- Emerging and established practitioners

- Represented or non-represented artists

NO NO GALLERY is a not-for-profit curator-run exhibition space in North Melbourne.

NO NO GALLERY exhibits contemporary art by emerging and established artists in a variety of media, and facilitates an evolving roster of art and related projects. Open since early 2010, NO NO GALLERY is dedicated to a dynamic, accessible and DIY approach; exhibitions and other ventures are curated and operated on a discursive project-by-project basis, including solo and curated group shows. NO NO GALLERY regularly facilitates workshops, screenings, seminars and other community-based and interactive exchanges. A small but dedicated team of wonderful volunteers helps keep NO NO GALLERY ticking and popping.

NO NO GALLERY was established and is directed by Roger Nelson. The Kulin Nations are respectfully acknowledged as the Indigenous owners of the land on which the gallery is situated.

Antonio Zeccola's involvement in film dates back to the 1960's where his first foray into the motion picture industry was (like his father's before him) a rented town hall screening films to small but enthusiastic audiences.

His obvious passion and commitment translated into success very quickly and by the mid to late 1970's Antonio operated a number of suburban cinemas including The Metropolitan in Brunswick, The Roma in Bourke Street and The Palace in Bourke Street from which the group derived its current corporate identity as Palace.

The group continued to flourish throughout the 1980's and early 1990's with the addition of a number of successful locations such as the Dendy Brighton, The Balwyn Cinema and The Academy Cinema in Paddington, NSW. During this time Palace Home Entertainment was created to cater for the growing demand for home videos.

Since its formation in the 1920s, Hoyts has been associated with countless successful innovations in the film exhibition industry and today Hoyts operates over 350 screens in the oceanic region, consolidating its place among the top three major exhibitors.

With showcase cinemas at Fox Studios and Chatswood in Sydney, Chadstone and Melbourne Central in Victoria and Carousel in Perth, Hoyts continues to set high standards in cinematic excellence and offers its patrons a wide variety of customised viewing experiences including Cinema Paris, La Premiere and Directors Suite screenings.

Darebin Arts & Entertainment Centre is a $10,250,000 modern multipurpose performing arts centre comprising a proscenium arch theatre, foyer, exhibition space and five multipurpose function rooms providing a combined capacity of 1,500.

Since opening in August 1994 the Centre has established a strong following for community based performing arts, functions and events together with some commercial activity in the form of meetings, conferences and trade expos. DAEC is a significant cultural and community asset that is attended by over 116,000 people each year.
 

The Melbourne Lithuanian Club (MLK) acts as a focal point for the cultural and social activities of the local Lithuanian community.

The Club has a variety of facilities that host dance, theater and choir concerts, balls, birthdays, dance rehearsals, regular Sunday luncheons, and occasionally serves as a display space for art pieces. The MLK is part of the North Melbourne's cultural hub, just a short tram ride from the city. This makes it an ideal venue for organisations or individuals wanting to use MLK for their performace or function, as the club is easily accessible both during the day and at night.
