At Central Deborah Gold Mine you have the unique opportunity to explore a real gold mine. Walk in the footsteps of past miners on a spectacular underground tour, explore the surface of the mine with its treasure trove of vintage mining machinery and try your hand at gold panning for riches.
Mine Experience Tour
Don a hard hat and miners lamp, descend 61 metres below the surface and discover what conditions as a miner were really like. Afterwards, explore the surface of the mine and learn how to pan for gold.
Underground Adventure Tour
For the complete experience, venture 85 metres underground to the third level of the mine. Gear up in overalls, boots, miner’s hat and lamp. Climb ladders, work mine drills and search for gold with finders keepers!
This tour also includes lunch or afternoon tea served underground in the Crib Room.
The Vintage ‘Talking’ Tram Tour also departs half hourly from the Central Deborah Gold Mine.

This park protects some of the highest quality Box-Ironbark forest in north-central Victoria, along with mallee and grassy woodlands. This is an ideal spot for nature study, birdwatching, bushwalking, picnics, horse riding and camping. The best time to visit is between August and October when colourful wildflowers are abundant. The 60 kilometre Bendigo Bushland Trail goes through part of the park, and the Great Dividing Trail begins here, linking Bendigo, Castlemaine and Ballarat. Things to do - Recreational fossicking is allowed in some areas. Fossickers must hold a current Miners Right. - The park offers a range of opportunities for walking and mountain biking. - Scenic driving, cycling and walking - Most roads in the park are unsealed and suitable for car touring and cycling. Established in 1887, Bendigo Art Gallery is one of the oldest and largest regional galleries in Australia. The Gallery's collection is extensive, with an emphasis on 19th century European art and Australian art from 1800s onwards, alongside a strong collection of contemporary Australian art. The collection is complemented by dynamic and ambitious temporary exhibitions and a diverse range of public programs and events.

The La Trobe University Visual Arts Centre is a multipurpose contemporary visual arts facility. Located in the heart of Bendigo's arts precinct, it features two galleries, two sculpture courtyards, an auditorium, a meeting room and an artist in residence apartment and studio. In addition to an annual program of 23 exhibitions that seek to present the cutting edge in contemporary art, the centre aims to engage with the community through a public lecture program, artist floor-talks and residencies featuring local, national and international artists. The exhibition program includes the Facade Project, an annual public art commission which transforms the facade of the building. The Visual Arts Centre has a 90 seat tiered auditorium equipped with a laptop computer, data projector, an audio system and internet access. The auditorium can be hired for seminars, public lectures etc, and the foyer is available for stand-up receptions or can be used in conjunction with the auditorium; the foyer area opens directly onto the adjacent courtyard, which is a wonderful space for guests to linger in the warmer months. Also available for hire is a meeting room which accommodates up to 12 people and is equipped with internet facilities and a large LCD flat screen for use with a laptop. With over 40 individual sites, the Bendigo Pottery Antiques and Collectables Centre is the best place to go to find that unique piece that no one else will have. The range at Bendigo Pottery Antiques and Collectables Centre includes pottery, paintings, glassware, jewellery, vintage clothing, furniture, silverware, kitchen equipment and utensils as well as collectables of all sizes. The stock changes regularly at the Antiques and Collectables centre so there will always be something for collectors and buyers, who enjoy all types of antiques. While at Bendigo Pottery you can get involved with the hands on activities which include wheel throwing and clap play. The Golden Dragon Museum is Victoria's first accredited museum and it beautifully presents processional regalia, carved furniture and costumes embroidered with gold bullion thread. Artefacts date as far back as the Shang Dynasty 1500-1000BC. Experience a living history of the Chinese people in Bendigo, from the gold rush of the 1850's to the present day, at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Australia. Located at the entrance to the museum and part of the Chinese precinct of Bendigo, are the Yi Yuan Gardens, the Kuan Yin temple and the Dai Gum San forecourt. Individuals welcomed and insightful educational tours, on a range of subjects, bring the museum to life for group bookings. Meals are also available in the Tearooms and wonderful items are available for purchase in the giftshop.

There is still no better way to see the sights of Bendigo than aboard Bendigo Tramways Vintage 'Talking' Tram. Sit back, relax and let the tram do all the talking as you journey through the past 150 years aboard a majestic Vintage 'Talking' Tram. You will be delighted by the grand architecture of Bendigo as your tram tells you entertaining stories about the city founded on one of the world's richest goldfields. This hop-on, hop-off tour stops throughout the city giving you the opportunity to explore many of the parks, attractions, shopping and dining facilities that Bendigo has to offer. Tickets are valid for two consecutive days. Visit the website for the current timetable. Don't forget to include a visit to Australia's oldest operating Tram Depot, the Bendigo Tramways Depot and Workshop. You will be in awe as you are taken on a guided tour, dwarfed by the many trams which live there, each with their own story to tell. See first hand the craftsmanship and techniques that are involved in restoring each tram to its former glory and find out more about the unique characters of the Tramways. Bendigo's fleet of Vintage 'Talking' Trams have all been restored here in the Bendigo Tramways Workshop. The workshop also carries out restoration works for other depots and museums around Australia and overseas. Depot and Workshop tours depart daily and are a great addition to your Vintage 'Talking' Tram Tour.

With loads of interactive exhibits to explore, you won't know what to try first at Discovery Science & Technology Centre! Be sure to look out for the whacky mirrors that make you look really strange, the echoing chamber that repeats your words a thousand times over and don't forget to play a tune on the thong-a-phone! Some popular Discovery Science & Technology Centre favourites include: Bendigo Planetarium: Sit back, relax on a bean bag, and become immersed in the world above as you are taken on a guided journey through the cosmos, venturing to places you've never been before. Each 20 minute show explores the wonders of astronomy and showcases the limitless phenomena in the sky above. Vertical Slide: Discovery is famous for the southern hemisphere's tallest Vertical Slide. If you're a thrill seeker, the Vertical Slide is definitely something that you will want to try. With a sheer drop of seven metres you will fall at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour! All sliders must be at least five years of age. Kaleidoscope: Think you are too young for science? Think again. For the young scientist under six, learn the basic principles of maths and science through the colourful and fun exhibits in Kaleidoscope. The Discovery Gift Shop: If you are looking for an unusual gift, then the Discovery Gift Shop is the place to go. The Discovery Gift Shop stocks fascinating educational items that are sure to keep kids busy for hours. During Victorian School holidays the Discovery Science & Technology Centre run special science and planetarium shows.

At the Bendigo Joss House Temple you can discover more about the Chinese migrants who came to Bendigo in search of gold so long ago. The Bendigo Joss House Temple, a Chinese place of worship, was constructed in the late 1860s. Standing for over a century, the Bendigo Joss House Temple is one of the few remaining buildings of its type in Australia. It comprises a Caretaker's Residence, Temple and Ancestral Hall. The main temple is dedicated to Guan-Di, the god of war and prosperity. The Chinese saw Guan-Di as a wise judge, guide, protector and provider of wealth and prosperity. Constructed with locally hand-made bricks and painted red, symbolising the traditional Chinese colour denoting strength and vitality, the Bendigo Joss House Temple is an important part of Bendigo's cultural history.
