Duffy's Self Contained Accommodation is located in Westerway, near the Styx Valley in Tasmania's south. Duffy's provides self contained accommodation in a quiet country setting surrounded by pasture and bushland, and overlooks a berry farm. A great location to use as a base for day trips, exploring the wilderness or fishing in the Tyenna River. In the distance are spectacular views of the Wellington mountain range, and nearby located are Mt. Field National Park, the Styx Valley and Russell Falls. The cottage is fully equipped for self catering visitor accommodation. It consists of two guest bedrooms with a double and single bed, an open plan kitchen and dining, and a lounge with a cosy wood fire. There is also a family bathroom and separate laundry facilities. The cabin is ideal accommodation for travelling couples and it is equipped for self catering visitors with a comfortable open plan living area and queen sized bed. A country style verandah enables guests to enjoy outdoor living with a barbecue and outdoor setting. Undercover parking is provided and Duffy's ensures a safe and family friendly environment. The Platypus Playground Riverside Cottage offers self-contained accommodation at Westerway, a 55-minute drive from Hobart and just a five-minute drive from Russell Falls and Mt. Field National Park. The Platypus Playground Riverside Cottage is a self-contained fully equipped two bedroom cottage by the river. The main bedroom has a queen size bed and overlooks the river just metres away. There is a second bedroom with single bed. Enjoy alfresco dining on the back deck listening to the babbling Tyenna River where you may spot one of the resident platypus. Fish one of the best trout rivers in Tasmania, or just enjoy the unique experience of being 'by the river'. Whether you've been wine tasting, browsing the local craft galleries, enjoying the eateries, walking the beautiful forests and mountain tracks of nearby Mt Field National Park, viewing the wild scenery of the South West World Heritage Area and Lake Pedder, gazing at the world's tallest hardwood trees in the Styx Valley, watching the local wildlife and waterfalls, the Platypus Playground offers a warm and welcome haven. Enjoy the ambience, peace and quiet in our fully-restored 100-year-old self contained two bedroom cottage that sleeps six comfortably can accommodate up to eight people. The cabin is surrounded by garden and all things country, set in the sleepy village of Westerway. It is located away from the local main highway, 30 metres away from the Tyenna River, which houses a platypus family you may catch a glimpse of, and a permanent trout filled stream to fish in. Relax and listen to the bubbling river and local birdlife. The cottage has an open plan full size kitchen, dining and lounge room with a wood heater. There are also laundry facilities available. Blue Wren Riverside Cottage is only minutes from Mount Field National Park, the famous Russell Falls and the tallest hardwood forest in the world, as well as near to the World Heritage South West Wilderness around Lakes Pedder and Gordon. We are a great location for adventures to Hobart, central highlands around Lake St Clair and New Norfolk. Nearby things to do include Maydena Rail Rider, fresh water fishing, the Salmon Ponds, Trout hatchery, kayaking and plenty of Tasmania's fauna and flora including wallibies and small kangaroos.

The Possum Shed is a unique riverside cafe in the picturesque Derwent Valley, conveniently located a short distance from Mt Field National Park. Enjoy delicious fresh food, home made cakes and scones and a fantastic range of teas, coffees and cold drinks. A place for all seasons, you can dine in the garden or on the deck overlooking the river, or indoors among the local craft and photography, and always keep an eye out for the resident platypus! The Westerway Raspberry Farm is a family-owned farm supplying fresh Tasmanian berries and berry products at its Farm Gate shop. Westerway is one hour West of Hobart in the Derwent Valley. Visitors to the Derwent Valley will find our roadside stall on the banks of the Tyenna river at Westerway, nestled amongst tall poplar trees. We are on the way to the popular Mt Field National Park (home of Russell Falls and the world's tallest flowering trees). Visitors can find a variety of freshly picked traditional varieties of raspberries, blackcurrants, blackberries, red currants, blueberries, cherries and strawberries. They can also find more unique varieties such as silvanberries, golden raspberries and josterberries. Aside from fresh fruit, we also sell juice, ice cream, jam, sauce, liqueur, and teas made from berries grown on our farm. The Clark family have grown berries since the 1960s. But the introduction of mechanical harvesting in the early 1990s helped transform the farm into one of the largest soft fruit farms in Australia....
