Just over the hill from McLaren Vale, on a beautiful road winding past Kuitpo Forest, lies Top Note, a premium cool climate Adelaide Hills vineyard.

Top Note Vineyard is a world apart from the vale, sitting at 330 metre elevation. Altitude and exposure to cool south-easterlies blowing up off the Southern Ocean keep us up to 10 degrees cooler than our neighbours in the vale, allowing us to grow cool climate varieties like Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and our rare Red Semillon as well as producing elegant Shiraz and beautifully structured Cabernet Sauvignon.

Owners Cate and Nick Foskett hand select the very best of each crop to make into small batches of exclusive, hand crafted wines under the Top Note label. The first Top Note release is a dessert wine made from the very rare Red Semillon - a pink berried relative of Semillon Madeira. The citrus notes of lemon and grapefruit on the nose are followed up on the palate with hints of granny smith apples.

Top Note will shortly be releasing a Pinot Noir and Shiraz from the 2014 vintage is currently maturing in new French Oak.

In 1987, Geoff Hardy - a fifth generation descendant of South Australian wine pioneer Thomas Hardy - finally found his ideal site for the production of outstanding cool climate grapes in the Adelaide Hills.

The vineyard became known as the K1 Vineyard as this unique, groundbreaking site was the first commercial planting of vines in the Kuitpo (pronounced 'ky-po') region.

Today, the K1 by Geoff Hardy wines are considered to be amongst some of Australia's finest ultra-premium, single estate wines. Geoff and his family continue their work to keep it that way and to make sure that the K1 cellar door maintains its reputation as one of Australia's leading cellar door experiences.

Kuitpo Forest is situated in the South Mount Lofty Ranges, 45 minutes drive from Adelaide, near the township of Meadows. Established in 1898, Kuitpo was the first of a number of forest plantations in the Mount Lofty Ranges to ensure a sustainable timber resource for South Australia. Today, Kuitpo Forest Reserve covers an area of some 3,600 hectares, of which 60 percent is softwood plantation. Kuitpo's plantations yield some 25,000 cubic metres of timber each year, valued in excess of AUD1.5 million. Kuitpo is modelled as a community forest, managed for sustainable commercial forestry, while providing for the conservation of native flora and fauna and community use for recreation.

Located in the secluded and picturesque village of Prospect Hill, the Prospect Hill Historical Museum comprises several historic buildings with exhibits depicting the life of the early pioneers. The museum buildings include an old working dairy, blacksmith shop, school, post office, barns, a shed full of working machinery and a home packed with historic treasures. Visitors can also walk through an exhibit showing the devastation caused by the Ash Wednesday bushfires to the town and the resilience of the local people in rebuilding their lives and community.

Paintball Sports offers guests a thrilling paintball experience. Spread across 114 acres of bushland, their playing fields range from steep hills and gullies to flat speedball fields and include trenches, forts and bunkers. Paint ball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, played by people from all professions and lifestyles and Paintball Sports cater for tourists, corporate team building exercises, bucks parties, sporting clubs, emergency services, birthdays; in fact any reason is a good reason to play paintball. All equipment is supplied and different packages are available. Guest facilities include flushing toilets, showers, kiosk and a barbecue area. Bookings are essential.
