Melba's famous chocolate factory is housed in the historic Farmers Union cheese factory and visitors are able to view through the different production areas where a variety of chocolates and confectioneries are made. Melba's operated old heritage chocolate and confectionery machinery - this continues today. The factory shop in the Adelaide Hills has a huge range of sweets and chocolates. A family friendly environment where you can choose from hundreds of difference products, as well as enjoying quality coffee and deserts from our Coffee shop.

Melba's most popular products include Licorice Block, Traffic Lights, Rocky Road, Chocolate Raspberries, Scorched Almonds, Aprichocs and many more.

Platform 1 Heritage Farm Railway at Littlehampton features a train ride, farm animals and railway memorabilia, just 10 minutes from Hahndorf. Travel by train through and past a historic farmyard and out into the open paddocks. Kids will love the one kilometre train ride and adults will enjoy the history of this farm that has been owned by six generations. Meet and feed Captain the horse, Alice and Henry the pigs and Miss Moo the cow and interact with the other farm animals. Play on the railway displays, dress up and be a train driver, signalman or play on the giant trains and tunnels game. Homemade scones with homemade jam and fresh cream are a delight as you relax in the century old barn. Train and farmyard toys and gifts are available and a visit is not complete without enjoying a few of the popular train chocolates. School groups, vacation care and playgroups find Platform 1 a great day out and the educational Paddock to Plate programme is very popular. Senior groups can relive years gone by with a history tour. Platform 1 Heritage Farm Railway also offers children's train parties.

Woodside Cheese Wrights have produced a range of high quality and award-winning cheeses at their Adelaide Hills facility since 1994. Their sophisticated range of cow and goat milk cheeses are made by directly sourcing milk from small local dairies, providing them with excellent control of milk quality. Woodside Cheese Wrights are true to the word artisan, crafting all of their cheeses by hand. Some of their cheeses are seasonal and are only made when the milk is perfect for each cheese style. Visitors are welcome to visit the Cellar Door to try Woodside Cheese Wrights diverse range of cheeses, where they will also find a range of locally made arts and crafts and locally grown and made produce and food.

The Lobethal Archives and Historical Museum is a German Pioneer Museum with displays and exhibits telling the story of both the German and English history of South Australia. Items on display include colonial artefacts from everyday life of the time including examples of needlecrafts and woodwork and numerous pictures of local industries and agriculture. The original Lutheran Church with the elevated pulpit and the unique blue and white wood work is part of the historic church precinct which includes the Lutheran School, the new Church Complex and remnants of the Old Lutheran Cemetery. Donations are collected at the door.

The Bird in Hand winery threw open the doors of its tasting room to the public in 2005 to create and grow an honest, cellar door experience. Visit our cellar door to experience the Bird in Hand wine range as well as our world class olive oil and range of luxury goods. Our luxury range includes Italian leather handbags, silk scarves, local handspun Merino scarves and beanies as well as a stunning jewellery collection handcrafted by local jeweller Shane Hinton. There may also be an art exhibition in the barrel room. Enjoy a relaxed long lunch with friends and family in our restaurant, or take a seat on our terrace and savour one of our local cheese platters. People of all ages will enjoy the experience of a different world at the Louise Flierl Mission Museum. You will find a collection of artefacts, historic photographs and text from more than 100 years of history of the Lutheran Church in Papua New Guinea and more recently, South East Asia. You will find the visit both fascinating and informative. The museum is located in the old St Pauls Lutheran Church building. The Museum is open by appointment and a donation is welcomed.

Hand made by our hands. This is James and Annabelle Tilbrook's vineyard and winemaking philosophy. Our vineyard, based in the beautiful Lenswood region is unique with French inspired close planted vines and terracing across steep slopes, where they grow Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. The old Onkaparinga Woollen Mills, in Lobethal, now provides a home for the combined winery and cellar door. Feel like a kid in a lolly shop at Humbugs of Hahndorf. Be tempted by a huge range of local and imported sweets including 30 varieties of original Hahndorf Fudge, made locally since 1998. You will find Dutch Licorice, German Chocolate, imported drinks, sugar free sweets, gluten free sweets and a huge range of Pick-n-Mix sweets and chocolates. We are located in the centre of Hahndorf opposite the German Arms Hotel, Humbugs selection of English, European, American and Australian sweets will definitely tempt your sweet tooth. Gulf Brewery is a microbrewery producing hand crafted boutique beers. You can taste beers at the cellar door and either relax and have a beer by the glass or take away to drink at your leisure. The cellar door is located between the IGA and Otto's bakery on the main street of historic Hahndorf in the picturesque Adelaide Hills Gulf Brewery have a wide range of beers available, so they can guarantee there will be a beer to suit your palette from a crisp refreshing lager to smooth dark chocolate stout. They also have one off specialty beers on tap throughout the year. If you are not sure what beers you would like, why not try a tasting paddle of six? Tasting plates of cheeses, local meats and olives are also available to complement the beer selection. Gulf Brewery can also host functions by appointment.

Manyara Vineyard is a small family vineyard located in Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills where the extended Lipman family concentrate on growing grapes of the highest quality. The vines are lovingly tended and carefully managed through hand pruning, shoot and bunch thinning to produce premium wines with distinctive fruit character. Wines available include Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and the Manyara red wine blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. The 2011 Pinot Noir will be available early in 2012.

Find handwoven textiles and tapestries produced on eight large looms are found at The Oakbank Weaver in the old cellars of Pike's historic Brewery. The weavers, Peter Stapleton and Mary Cassini, create their own patterns, which are fascinating to see emerging on the looms. The finished tapestries and textiles ranging from throw rugs to suit fabrics, upholstery, stoles and scarves can be purchased in the gallery located under the 1889 stone brew tower. Commissions are welcomed. The building is listed as a fine industrial example of Victorian architecture on the State Heritage Register. Entry is free for individuals. Groups are welcomed by prior arrangement.

The Lobethal Bierhaus is a micro brewery, cellar door and restaurant proudly located in Lobethal's Old Onkaparinga Woollen Mills. All of the brewery's equipment is on display together with detailed descriptions of how its beer is made and the considerable history of brewing in Lobethal, which dates back to 1851. The restaurant serves a full range of excellent dishes designed around local produce in a casual child friendly environment. In addition to its own award winning handcrafted beers (available on both draught and in bottle to take home), a selection of locally made wines, tea, coffee and soft drinks are also available.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy this beautifully presented nine-hole golf course located just off the main Onkaparinga Road at Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills. Our club has a membership of close to 270 and we provide a program of organised competitions and social functions. Casual players can hire all the necessary equipment if required. The clubhouse has bar facilities and offers group catering. The course is ideal for the recreational golfer: it is a comfortable 30 minute drive from Adelaide, is easily traversed, has no bunkers and is irrigated throughout the summer. There are nine holes and the men's par is 68, with a course length of 5315 metres; for women, the par is 72 and the course length, 5176 metres. Please note a dress code applies.

Shaw and Smith Winery are situated on 46 hectares on Jones Road between Balhannah and Hahndorf and overlooks a four hectare dam with stunning views of the Mount Lofty Ranges. The winery, built for the 2000 vintage is a contemporary design and houses Shaw and Smith's production, marketing and administration. You are encouraged to purchase a tasting flight of four different wines from the Shaw and Smith range complemented by a specially chosen cheese plate at a cost of AUD15.00 per person. Each tasting flight comes with its own tasting mat allowing you to learn the secrets of the wine while you sip away on the terrace or in the cooler months, on the lounge by the fire. Wines are also available by the glass from AUD6.00 or by the bottle.

Hahndorf Hill Winery specialises in exciting new-wave wines, including Gruner Veltliner and Blaufrankish. It also hosts ChocoVino tastings - an experience based on the concept of terroir, where fine wines are matched with the world's most exclusive chocolate. A small fee applies for this experience and bookings are recommended. The cellar door offers sensational views and has won numerous regional tourism awards. This is certainly one cellar door you'll be reluctant to leave!

Conveniently located only 25 minutes from the Adelaide central business district the Megan Jones Riding School awaits you. With qualified instructors all directed by Megan Jones, the riding school welcomes all levels. With lessons catering for the first time rider through to advanced riders wishing to improve their skills, the Megan Jones Riding School has the program for you. Services include group or private lessons; school holidays 'own your own pony workshops', trail rides and corporate team building. Trail rides are available throughout the 100 acre property. Bike About was first established in 1996 in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, with the focus on outdoor education, physical education and school camps providing an educational, fun and health activity for our students. We specialise in mountain biking, mountain bike camps, cycling touring, bike hire and education. We offer a variety of mountain bike trips to suit a range of abilities and types of groups. Some include catering and accommodation, and some are simple day trips.

Somerled is an elegant, welcoming family-owned cellar door located on Hahndorf's Main Street. We'll show you through a guided 'Once around the Track' tasting of our five super premium wines. Winemaker Rob, whose history includes 30 years in senior winemaking roles with Penfolds and Wynn's, is often in residence at the Cellar Door to talk you through the range and personally par for you. Rob's wife Heather and daughter Lucy are also two constants behind the counter at the Cellar Door. Ask for Heather's roasted almonds - or sit under the vines and enjoy Heather's Spanish Platter with a glass of wine. Somerled is the name of the bay gelding that was ridden to victory at the local Oakbank Picnic Races in 1908, by Rob's grandfather Stephen Bowd.

Discover the delightful village of Oakbank on this heritage walk. There are more than 40 sites for you to explore, all with numbered plaques, which are detailed in a brochure available from local businesses and the Adelaide Hills Council, Woodside. You can enjoy the walk at any time, which may take up to an hour to complete. Founded in 1840 by James Johnston of Campbelltown, Scotland, Oakbank was named after an area near Glasgow. James and his brother established their Oakbank Brewery in 1843. The original building is on the bank of the Onkaparinga River and you can buy wines and soft drinks there. See the Oakbank Racecourse, established in 1874 where thousands of people still come each year for the Easter Racing Carnival and Pike's historic Brewery founded by Henry Pike in 1886, see the heritage-listed brew tower and workshops now home to the Oakbank Weaver.

Come to Beerenberg Strawberry Farm and pick your own delicious strawberries during South Australia's strawberry season from October to May. See the Jam Kitchen. See the historic old half timbered barn constructed in the 1840s. Our farm shop is open seven days a week all year round except Christmas Day. Beerenberg sits at the eastern end of the main street of Hahndorf, among the beautiful scenery perpetuated by the paintings of Sir Hans Heysen. The Paech family continues a horticultural tradition which began in 1839. Beerenberg kitchens produce jams, pickles, chutneys, mustards, marinades and sauces to old Hahndorf recipes.

Mt Lofty Ranges Vineyard is 20 kilometres due east of Adelaide city as the crow flies. Take a 30 minute drive from Adelaide through the picturesque Adelaide Hills and enjoy delightful views over a northerly facing panorama of rolling vines, apples and cherry orchards disappearing into Eucalyptus bushland, while you taste our Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc wines.

Vineyard establishment commenced in 1992 and is owned, developed and operated by Alan Herath and Jan Reed. The small Vineyard is hand nurtured, picked and pruned with wine complexity and style starting in the vineyard based on a wide variety of selected grape types, soils and slopes.

Disabled car parking is available three metres from the cellar door and there are no steps from the car park to cellar door. Closed June and July, except by appointment.

Nepenthe was described by Homer in the Odyssey as an Egyptian herbal drink so powerful that it eases grief and banishes sorrow from the mind.

A quick 25 minute drive from the centre of Adelaide and you will arrive at Nepenthe's Cellar Door. A great location, spectacular vineyard with awesome views, a fun and relaxed atmosphere with out of this world wines - and the odd surprise!
