Crabtree River Cottages is located in the beautiful Huon Valley at Grove, just a 25-minute drive from Hobart. The property is heritage listed and sits on the banks of the Crabtree River and overlooks ?Sleeping Beauty? mountain. We offer two private and comfortable federation-style self-contained cottages named Emily and Eliza. Both cottages have a kitchenette, very high vaulted ceilings, en-suite with two-person spa plus separate shower, romantic bedroom, large decks with barbecue and verandas overlooking Crabtree River. The river is an active playground for platypus and trout, and the pastures beyond are home to wallabies and the odd Tasmanian devil. Relax by the wood heater in winter or watch the river roll by on the deck in the summer. We are also only seven minutes? drive to Huonville....

Crabtree House offers self-contained heritage accommodation in Grove, in Tasmania's South. Heritage listed Crabtree House sits at the entrance of the lush and fertile Huon Valley. Crabtree House is ideally positioned for the business or leisure traveller. Perfect for a relaxing weekend getaway, romantic wedding, honeymoon or a touring holiday. A warm and friendly Huon Valley welcome awaits you. The Loft is a very large yet intimate apartment which caters to up to four adults in a queen plus king or two singles bedding configuration. The large deck overlooking Sleeping Beauty and Crabtree River and farm land beyond has a six place outdoor dining setting and a barbecue. The Heritage Apartment is designed for couples only and is not suitable for children. It has a large lounge, open fire, kitchenette and private deck overlooking the river. The Twin Rivers Suite (Loft and Heritage combined) accommodates six adults or a family of six. Includes two queen and one king or two single bedrooms. There are two kitchenettes and two bathrooms, the upper with a bath. Both apartments are centrally heated. Grove is a 28-minute drive (31 km) south of Hobart....

Huon Show

Experience country life with a carnival atmosphere at the Huon Show "The Show of the South". The programme of judging and sporting events will include horse ring events for hacks, galloways, leading rein, large and small ponies as well as livestock judging, heavy horse judging, ute muster, woodchopping, show jumping and dog high jumping. The children will be entertained by the puppet shows and games at the Children's marquee. And of course the whole family can take a look at the animals and machinery in the Grand Parade. Excellent Lunch, morning and afternoon teas available....

Huon Valley Mid-winter Festival

Willie Smith's Apple Shed is the hottest hut in the Huon Valley: craft ciders, artisan cheeses, and plenty of space to sit, chat, roll in the hay, etc. They've partnered up with other like-minded locals to throw a mini midwinter festival to celebrate the region's apple-pickin' history. At its core is a focus on wassailing: the ages-old tradition of scaring nasties out of cider apple trees, from orchard to orchard, in order to bring on a stellar autumn yield. Now, things may seem a little strange at first: kings, queens, processions, giving gifts to the trees, shouting, banging, fire, candlelight, and so forth, but what else would you expect? And if none of that bobs your Geeveston fanny, that's okay too - there'll be cider, entertainment and feast-worthy food in abundance....

Apple Valley Market Ranelagh

The second Sunday of the month sees the grand old Ranelagh Soldiers Memorial Hall transformed into one of the Huon Valley's premiere markets, with boundless local creativity on display among over 30 stalls, including handcrafts, local produce, delicious food, upcycled, vintage, fashion and antiques. Local musical acts perform all day at every market on the fabulous old stage, and the two halls are filled with activity, community spirit and colourful stalls. Outside you can find marquees packed with surprises, bargains and fresh produce. And across the road the acclaimed Ranelagh General Store is cooking up a storm and providing locally roasted coffee. Enjoy the local spirit, great food and drink, inspiring Tasmanian made products and the festivity of a day out together in the charming and historic Ranelagh Soldier's Memorial Hall. A Taste of the Huon

A Taste of the Huon is a celebration of fine food, wine, arts, crafts and entertainment from the Huon Valley, D'Entrecasteaux Channel and Bruny Island regions of Tasmania. Held at Ranelagh which is only 30 minutes scenic drive south of Hobart, the festival is held over the long weekend in March and is one the most popular regional events in Tasmania drawing over 20,000 people throughout its two day program. With around 90 stalls the festival is about showcasing some of the finest and freshest quality produce and quality wines the state has to offer, all of which can be found in the abundant cafes, wineries and berry farms that are scattered amongst rolling hills and along the winding Huon River. Entertainment includes something for everyone, energy sapping activities for the kids leaving parents time to relax and enjoy the cultural delights on offer to the cool strains of jazz....
