Opened in 1988, Braemar Gallery functions as a community gallery, hosting changing exhibitions that showcase works of local and regional artists. Situated in beautiful historic Braemar House, the gallery is a valuable community venue. Braemar has a particular interest in displaying works by local young artists and annually holds an exhibition of lower Blue Mountains Candidates in the HSC. Over time, the gallery has become well known for high standard art works of various mediums. Beginners and experienced artists are invited to join as a "Friend of Braemar" and exhibit their individual work offering a fantastic chance for all to be part of the gallery. The Australia Day Festival in Springwood features a stage with live music and dancers along with rides, stalls, barbecue and a bar. Australia Day in Springwood welcomes all members of the community to come together and celebrate living in Australia. Entry to event by donation. The Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre has an indoor 25 metre swimming pool, a leisure pool and a children's pool with a whirlpool and water slide that operates daily at set times. The centre also contains a fully equipped fitness centre, sauna, spa and steam room and full-catered cafeteria. Blue Mountains residents and visitors are fortunate to have five high standard swim and leisure centres spread throughout the Blue Mountains including Glenbrook, Lawson, Katoomba and Blackheath Pool. All of the pools have school holiday fun programs with large inflatable obstacle course at all the centres plus a waterslide operating at certain times at Springwood Aquatic and Fitness Centre.
