Construction for the hotel dates back to 1924, with the finishing touches made in 1929. Hotel Corones was once known as ‘The Leading Hotel of the West’ during the World War II and the years after. With a bar that was once the largest in the southern hemisphere, today it’s simply a great venue to spend a relaxing day. There’s even a beer garden where you can unwind and catch up on the local Charleville gossip. And for those visitors who are staying a few days in Charleville, the hotel boasts three types of accommodation: basic pub style, motel and heritage style rooms. Over 70 Veteran 1 and 2 Cylinder cars (all over 100 years old)and motorbikes will descend on Charleville for the week and you are welcome to see them at the racecourse each morning (except Sunday) from 10am to 11am. Come and see vehicles like the Maxwell, Buick, Renault, Reo, De Dion Bouton, Albion, Brush, Rover, Oldsmobile, Rambler, Aerial, Swift, Clement Bayard, Triumph, Humbrette, IHC, Cadillac, Star, Sizaire Naudin, Darrarq, Minervette, Schact and Indian. The oldest vehicle was manufactured in 1903 and still running strongly. A special spectacle will be the Gaslight Parade on Friday night with street markets in Wills Street where these vehicles will be on display from 5:00pm prior to the Gaslight Parade at commencing at 6:30pm. ...
