Historic Ormiston House was built in the 1860s by Captain Louis Hope, who was to become known as the Father of the Australian Sugar Industry. The house is surrounded by 14 acres of equally historic grounds and gardens overlooking Moreton Bay, a beautiful setting for one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in Queensland. Ormiston House is listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. The house and its grounds have been carefully restored over the past 44 years, funded by the fundraising activities of a volunteer committee and a team of dedicated volunteers. Throughout the year, Ormiston House has a busy and varied calendar of open days and special events that attract many visitors and tourists to sample the delights of the house and its surrounds. There are occasions that celebrate the house's strong Scottish connection, its history and its beautiful gardens; several Concours d'Elegance, Mother's Day High Tea and elegant Edwardian Tea Parties on the verandah.

Wellington Point Recreation Reserve

42442 - Wellington Point QLD 4160
Wellington Point Recreation Reserve is one of Redlands Coast’s biggest draw cards, luring locals and visitors to a spectacular destination. Surrounded by coast on three sides, Wellington Point Reserve is popular for picnics, launching a boat into Moreton Bay, walking to King Island, or just sitting back and relaxing overlooking Moreton Bay. King Island (Erobin) is a magnet to visitors from across the region, Australia and the world. On low tide a sandbar emerges, creating a natural bridge from the mainland to your very own island paradise. And all without getting your feet wet! Children love the established playgrounds that weave among the shade of 90 year old Moreton Bay fig trees while the nearby café and dining offers award-winning menus and the patrolled swim area is a safe place for all ages. Wellington Point (Cullen Cullen) surrounds offers great fishing, either from boat or kayak, from one of a number of launching ramps. A variety of species take refuge among the mangroves at high tide and good catches are had from the shoreline and jetty during the day and at night....

King Island Walk

Recreation Reserve, Wellington Point QLD 4160
'Walking on water' across the spectacular low-tide sand bridge from Wellington Point to King Island is a Redlands Coast signature experience and one of the most unique walks in South-east Queensland. A stunning sand causeway emerges from beneath the Moreton Bay waters between the Wellington Point (Cullen Cullen) mainland and the tiny, uninhabited King Island at low-tide, forming a natural bridge for walkers. It’s a 2 kilometre return walk – great for kids who can paddle along the way and spot birds and crabs and you can take your dog (on leash) on week days too. It’s an exposed walk so don’t skimp on the SPF and make sure you check tide times before you head out too – it’s a strictly low-tide affair. When you get back to the mainland, stop in at one of the many eateries in Wellington Point. Put this one on your weekend bucket list for some time soon!...
