Heide Museum of Modern Art began life in 1935 as the home of John and Sunday Reed and has since evolved into one of Australia’s most important cultural institutions.

Built in 1899, Bundoora Homestead is a magnificent Queen Anne style Federation mansion operating as a historic house, art gallery and cafe, registered by Heritage Victoria and certified by the National Trust.

Bundoora Homestead Art Centre is the public art gallery of the City of Darebin, it hosts a changing programme of contemporary art and craft exhibitions, public lectures and is home to the biennial Darebin Art Show.

Nioka Bush Camp is a quiet retreat away from the stresses of city life. Stay overnight in the great outdoors, camping or in bunkhouse accommodation. Yarra Flats Park features 85 hectares of pastoral and heritage landscapes, natural bushland, wetlands, abundant birdlife and a number of informal picnic areas. There is a wood barbecue, picnic tables and shelters located near the car park. Fires are permitted only in the barbecue provided, and you are welcome to bring your own small gas barbecue. The toilet block at Yarra Flats Park is wheelchair accessible. Petty's is one of Melbourne's oldest commercial orchards, and it holds the largest collection of apple varieties on mainland Australia, with more than two hundred varieties of old and rare apples. Open every Friday for organic produce markets and also by appointment. For school or group tours phone 9726 9784 There is a single toilet block which has facilities for the disabled. The car park and Demonstration Orchard are relatively flat providing disabled access, although tracks through the latter are fine gravel and mown grass which can be slippery when wet. The wetland and bird hide are less accessible and people with physical mobility problems will have to be fit to negotiate some areas. While managed by Parks Victoria, 25 hectares of Pettys is privately leased to a commercial operator. Please respect the rights of the orchardists by not entering this area or picking any apples. The Islamic Museum of Australia aims to showcase the rich artistic heritage and historical contributions of Muslims in Australia and abroad. Fascinating stories, interactive displays and exquisite art exhibits provide an insight into the Australian Muslim experience for tourists, school groups and all visitors.

There are five permanent displays; Islamic faith, Islam's contribution to civilisation, Islamic art and architecture and Australian Muslim history. The museum also hosts international and local visiting exhibitions.

Guided tours are available for school,community or private groups.

Nestled beside the Yarra River in Eltham, the scenic surrounds of Sweeneys Flat offers a perfect spot for a family picnic, a special place to escape whilst taking in the views of the lush surrounding bushland. Your own gas barbecues are welcome at Sweeneys Flats since there are no barbecues provided. Toilet facilities are not available. Bundoora Park provides customers with information on the region and significant venues within Victoria. Bundoora Park provides a wealth of experiences and activities for all the family. Escape for an hour or a day and enjoy a wide range of activities in Cooper's Settlement. The farm animals are always keen for visitors. Play a round of golf at one of the best and most picturesque public golf courses in Melbourne. Relax in the many beautiful picnic or playground areas. Take in the spectacular view of the Melbourne skyline from Mount Cooper. The cafe features both an indoor and outdoor seating arrangement and on those cold winter days customers can sit down in front of the fireplace and enjoy the warmth of a cosy fire. The cafe provides picturesque views of the Cooper's Settlement Wildlife Reserve. Customers with a keen eye may be able to spot kangaroos and emus.

Situated at the confluence of the Plenty and Yarra Rivers, this 33 hectare park was an important meeting place for the Wurundjeri people. Birrarrung Park is a significant recreation space within the parks along the Yarra River, incorporating two large ephemeral wetlands. Several wood barbecues (wood is provided), picnic tables and shelters are available in the park. Fires are permitted only in the barbecues provided, and you are welcome to bring your own small gas barbecue. The toilet block at Birrarrung Park is wheelchair accessible. An adventure playground is available for children. There are 2.8 kilometres of flat sealed trails are suitable for skating, cycling and walking. WaterMarc is the largest indoor aquatic and leisure facility in the northern region of Victoria with two giant water slides! Other features include a huge water play space including a 'zero depth' play area and an aquatic adventure playground with activity features. WaterMarc has a 50 metre pool which can be converted into two 25 metre pools, a learn to swim pool, a leisure and toddler pool, as well as a warm water program pool, spa, steam room and sauna. WaterMarc also offers a health club (gym), three group exercise studios, personal training, swimming lessons, childcare and a café.

Take a look back in time at the historic Hawkstowe Picnic Area. You'll be impressed by the brick and bluestone Le Page homestead, barn and stables. Take a walk around the picturesque lakes. The garden is maintained by volunteer members from the Mill Park Garden Club - The Le Page Homestead is the home base for Plenty Valley Arts Inc, who offer arts based activities and events to the broader community. The homestead gallery is open to the public for inspection and sales by appointment - On the first and third Sunday of each month a local woodcarver shows his artwork and sells his products - The playground is the perfect place for the children to play safely - Take a walk around the picturesque lakes.
