Lesmurdie Falls located in the Lesmurdie Falls National Park in the hills east of Perth, are one of the more spectacular waterfalls on the Darling Range escarpment. Commencing at the top, this moderate two kilometre walk circuit meanders down to the base of the falls, up close to the lush vegetation, and is quite unique for the Perth area. This Top Trail starts on the top of the falls where Lesmurdie book tumbles over the Darling Range Escarpment. Walking down the hill, it follows the brook until it reaches a bridge at the top of the falls. Stand at the top and look over the fall of water. The trail continues down to the picnic area at the base of the hills. From here there is a trail that leads to the base of the falls. This is more like a waterfall in New Zealand than in Perth. The lush vegetation grows where the bubbling brook hits the base of the waterfall. The climb up the hill to return to the car park is steep but short. Enjoy morning tea or lunch in the near by Kalamunda Village.

Set off on a bushwalking adventure through Kalamunda National Park in the Perth Hills. This is where the famous Bibbulmun Track starts – and then winds 1,000 kilometres south to Albany. The Bibbulmun Track is rated as one of Australia’s best hiking trails. Walking trails in Kalamunda National Park take you along Peisse Brook and though forests timbered with marri, wandoo and jarrah. Granite boulder outcrops are common, making the scenery particularly striking. If you’re lucky you might see a kangaroo, echidna or bandicoot, while native birdlife thrives, making Kalamunda National Park a good place for bird watching. The park is a short walk from the centre of Kalamunda Township, which is popular for its village atmosphere and monthly farmer’s markets. Kalamunda National Park is located within the Darling Range, about a half an hour drive from Perth.

The Bibbulmun Track offers a wide range of experiences, from an epic eight-week adventure staying in the 49 campsites along the way, to day walks, staying in comfort in one of the quaint country towns. The track passes through Dwellingup, Collie, Balingup, Donnelly River Village, Pemberton, Northcliffe, Walpole and Denmark. The campsites have a rustic timber sleeping shelter, pit toilet, rainwater tank and tent sites. The track is well marked with yellow triangular markers symbolising the 'Waugal' (rainbow serpent of the Aboriginal Dreaming)....

Kanyana Wildlife is a not for profit organisation dedicated to caring for sick, injured, orphaned and displaced wildlife. Kanyana Wildlife is also committed to breeding threatened species and providing vital training and community education. More than 3,000 sick, injured and orphaned animals are taken to Kanyana Wildlife each year and admitted to the onsite rehabilitation centre for treatment. When they are well enough, their rescuer is contacted to collect the animal and release it where it was found. Just over half an hour from Perth, Ellis Brook Valley Reserve is one of the easiest ways to experience one of the richest wildflower displays on the planet. The reserve is home to over 550 varieties of spring wildflowers, with walk trails to suit all abilities. It’s a seven minute drive from the nearby town of Gosnells and only a 35 minute drive from Perth to reach what many locals consider to be the best place to view wildflowers in the Perth area. The wildflowers, brook and Sixty Foot Falls are at their best in September or October, after good winter rains. Bring a picnic or cook lunch on the reserve’s gas barbeques, and see if you can spot the furry and feathered residents, including kangaroos, possums, echidnas and some of the 116 bird species found here.
