Cool Companions is the education branch of Dreamtime Wildlife Sanctuary. We’re a private wildlife sanctuary located west of Brisbane, housing over 1000 animals and more than 300 species.

We deliver a range of education and exciting presentations to schools and community groups throughout south-east Queensland.

We conduct wildlife-based training courses on topics such as reptile husbandry and venomous snake identification.

Located just 20 minutes from the Ipswich Central Business District and 35 minutes' from Brisbane Central Business District, White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate features the distinctive, sculptured, rocky outcrops of White Rock and Spring Mountain. Covering over 2,500ha of regionally significant bushland, the Estate also features extensive forested ridges, escarpments and valleys that are home to an amazing array of plant and wildlife species. Visitors can enjoy the full gamut of outdoor activities including hiking, bird-watching, horse riding (bring your own horses), mountain bike riding and nature study. For the bushwalker there's everything from a leisurely 200 metre walk to the more challenging 19 kilometre round trip trail with most of the trails are suitable for hiking and mountain bike riding. If you're on horseback, then the Yaddamun Trail is perfect. The entry to the Estate is the Paperbark Flats Picnic Area, at the end of School Road in Redbank Plains. Amenities on site include toilets, picnic facilities and horse float parking. Don't forget to take a hat, sunscreen and drinking water. To cool off during a long hot Ipswich summer, you can't go past Orion Lagoon at Springfield, just a 30-minute drive from Brisbane Central Business District. Situated within Orion Springfield Central and the newest stage of the huge Robelle Domain parklands, Orion Lagoon has a vast expanse of shallow pools and water features. The interconnected pools cater for all age groups, from the toddler-friendly 0.3 metres up to 1.5 metres for more proficient swimmers. Some are gently graded from the edge to give a beach-like effect, with one section offering aquativity features such as squirting spouts and stepping-stones. Lifeguards are on duty from 8am to 4pm from 1 April to 31 August and 5am to 9pm from 1 September to 31 March. Children under 13 must be actively supervised by persons 18 years or older at all times. Shade is provided by colourful sails and some trees over the grassed areas, while there's also a covered barbecue pavilion with picnic tables. See koalas in the wild on these easy to moderate walking trails through White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate. The Six Mile Creek, Bluff Lookout and Little White Rock Trails can be done together or in sections. Along these trails you will see large swamp box and blue gums, and if you are lucky you might spot a shy lace monitor. Keep an eye out for scratches and droppings at the base of large gums which indicate that a koala may be resting in the branches. Cool down as you cross Six Mile Creek and inspect a number of revegetation areas under restoration. A moderate level track with rough surfaces and steep inclines takes you to the Bluff Lookout with tree-top views over Six Mile Creek and views back into the estate. Pass along the base of a rocky ridge to see caves and relics of a World War Two training bunker. The spotted gum forest here supports a local koala population. A short detour from the main trail will take you to the Little White Rock Track for a view over the forest....
