CarriageWorks is a multi-venue centre focused on the creation and presentation of contemporary art and culture. There are large flexible theatre spaces (Bay 17 and Bay 20), gallery (Bay 19) and exhibition spaces, rehearsal rooms (Track 8 and Track 12) and a scenery workshop. CarriageWorks is a working hub for practitioners and audiences of the small to medium arts sector.

CarriageWorks is housed in the old Eveleigh Rail Yards at Wilson Street, located within the emerging Redfern Waterloo precinct, and has been developed by the NSW State Government through Arts NSW. Starting with the cathedral-scale foyer, the physical beauty and scope of CarriageWorks is inspiring. The distinctive nineteenth century industrial atmosphere of the former railway carriage and blacksmith workshops have been retained, with many heritage iron and brick details featured in the regeneration of the building.

The Guild Theatre is a community theatre group that was officially opened on Saturday 5th March, 1966 by the Mayor of Rockdale, Alderman R. J. Gosling. The first production in the new premises was the comedy Quality Street by James M Barrie which opened on Friday 18th March. Further plays and festival wins continued throughout the sixties and into the seventies, along with continued renovations and improvements to the theatre.

The Enmore Theatre is located in the Newtown Entertainment Precinct, Sydney's unique heartland of live performance, music cinemas, restaurant, bars, cafes and hotels. Historic King St and Enmore Rd play host to this vibrant nightlife.

As a purpose built, dedicated live entertainment venue, the Factory hosts an array of live music and performances - from international rock concerts to intimate cabaret shows, film and dance. The Sidetrack Theatre is a rustic and intimate 150-seat capacity performance space situated in the Inner-west’s Addison Rd Centre Complex, Marrickville. The space has a large stage area (up to 8 x 9 metres) with excellent acoustics and sight lines. It is ideally suited to both small to medium theatrical productions and shows in development. It is also well set up to cater for community based productions.

Sidetrack Theatre comes complete with onsite parking and a full support team behind each area from ticketing through to marketing & production.

An intimate setting that seats no more than 30-40 people where guests can relax in reclining chairs and enjoy full waiter service as well as a brand new menu.

About White Rabbit

The White Rabbit Collection is one of the world’s largest and most significant collections of contemporary Chinese art. Founded by Kerr and Judith Neilson, it focuses on works produced after 2000.

The origins of the Collection go back to the late 1990s, when Judith Neilson engaged Wang Zhiyuan, a Chinese artist then living in Sydney, as her art tutor. He introduced her to the astonishing explosion of creativity taking place in China in the wake of the “Opening Up” that had begun in 1989. Mrs Neilson began buying works, but soon ran out of space to hang them. She and her husband then decided to open a gallery that would make the exciting world of contemporary Chinese art available to all Australians.

The White Rabbit Gallery, a converted former knitting factory near Sydney’s Central Station, has four floors of exhibition space as well as a theatrette, a library and a teahouse. Only a fraction of the Collection is on show at any time. The entire contents of the gallery are rehung twice a year.

Aboriginal & Pacific Art represents contemporary Aboriginal art from around Australia. Working with community-owned and -governed art centres, the gallery shows monthly exhibitions of new works, including painting, sculpture and works on paper, from established and emerging artists. Aboriginal & Pacific Art was established by Gabriella Roy in 1996 at the Sydney Dymock’s Building. She has worked with both Aboriginal and Pacific arts and artefacts for the past four decades and brings an acute sense of history and aesthetics to the gallery. At the Dymock’s space, Aboriginal & Pacific Art presented many groundbreaking shows, including solo exhibitions of the late Tiwi artists Kitty Kantilla (Kutuwulumi Purawarrumpatu) and Freda Warlapinni, and the late Fitzroy Crossing artist Janangoo Butcher Cherel. The gallery is also a long-standing representative of Tiwi artist Timothy Cook and South Australian Ngarrindjeri weaver Yvonne Koolmatrie.

Gabriella works together with the art advisors from community art centres to best represent the artists and their works. In 2005, the gallery moved to its current location in Waterloo’s 2 Danks Street, attracting a new and diverse audience. Here, Aboriginal & Pacific Art has presented the yearly Sydney exhibitions of Warakurna Artists, Tjala Arts and Tjungu Palya, all based in South Australia’s Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunyjatjara (APY) Lands, and solo exhibitions of Tiwi artists Jean Baptiste Apuatimi and Timothy Cook. Aboriginal & Pacific Art is a member of the Australia Commercial Galleries Association (ACGA) and Gabriella is an accredited government valuer (since 1986). The gallery also represents works in the secondary market. The ‘Pacific’ of its title refers to Gabriella’s extensive knowledge and secondary market representation of Oceanic arts.

The Delmar Gallery is located at Trinity Grammar School in Ashfield, New South Wales.

In September 1992 Darren Knight Gallery opened with a group exhibition at 65 Smith Street, Fitzroy, Melbourne. Exhibiting mainly Australian and New Zealand artists, the gallery operated from this small shop front space for four years before relocating to Sydney.

In February 1997 Darren Knight Gallery Sydney opened in a former pleating factory at 840 Elizabeth Street, Waterloo, the first gallery to establish itself in what is now a thriving arts precinct.

The Damien Minton Gallery is less than a 10 minute walk from either Redfern or Central Station. From Central take the Devonshire Street exit and walk up Chalmers then cross over Cleveland Street and turn left for Great Buckingham Street. (Beware there is a Buckingham Street nearby. It is not the gallery’s address). From Redfern Station cross over Regent Street and walk down Redfern Street to Redfern Park and turn left into Great Buckingham Street.

MAY SPACE, formerly known as Brenda May Gallery (2001-2016) and Access Contemporary Art Gallery (1985-2001), proudly represents a small group of accomplished artists, whilst also supporting established talent and creating opportunities for emerging artists. In addition, the Gallery fosters young curators and provides platforms for engaging curatorial projects.    

The Gallery is devoted to promoting artists in Australia whose works are challenging, compelling and immersive. Expanding further into the Asia-Pacific region, the Gallery has recently exhibited at Art Stage Singapore and after two decades of involvement with the Melbourne Art Fair, at Sydney Contemporary at Carriageworks.    

Black Box Projects was launched in 2014 and is one of the first spaces dedicated to exhibiting moving image artworks in a commercial gallery in Australia, substantiating the Gallery’s commitment to varied contemporary art practices.

Director, Annette Larkin, brings more than 23 years of specialist experience in the Australian and international art markets. In her 11 years at Christie's Australia, many as Associate Director and Head of contemporary art, she established stand-alone sales of contemporary art, liasing and traveling to Asia, United States and Europe often for the auctions of contemporary and modern international and asian art. Prior to this, Larkin worked at the major Sydney commercial gallery, Macquarie Galleries; with the Art Gallery of New South Wales and Newcastle Region Art Gallery. In 1994 she was selected by the Australian Government as the Australian Curator and Commissioner for the VIII Indian Triennale, New Delhi.

Director’s Bill and Anne Gregory opened Annandale Galleries in 1991, in what was a converted Masonic Hall. The large space that the Galleries provide, stem from the building’s initial function, having originally been a Methodist church.

Through a plethora of varying styles and contexts, the aim of Annandale Galleries is to show the best of Australian and overseas contemporary and modern art. Recent exhibitions have included a range of leading national and international artists recognised and revered the world over.
The Galleries have won particular acclaim from the reputation they have built up in showing the work of leading Aboriginal artists. Annandale Galleries represents the Aboriginal communities of Maningrida and Yirrkala in North East Arnhemland, and have regular exhibitions of barks and various freestanding sculpture. The gallery also specializes in European modern masters such as Matisse, Miro and Chagall.

Art Est. Art School and Gallery is Sydney’s dynamic creative hub for the visual arts. Located in a spacious, light-filled warehouse in Leichhardt, Art Est. is an inspiring art space that incorporates three teaching studios, artists in residence studios and an art gallery.

Factory 49 is an artist run Showroom that presents contemporary abstraction (non-objective) art, showcases solo shows, and changes every 2 weeks. Openings are every second Wed 6-8 pm.

Kamikaze Wasabi is an exhibition of extraordinary variety (with works across the mediums of collage, drawing, pastel and painting). Hitesh Natalwala exposes his fascination with the intricacies and iconographies of different cultures.

On completion of training, returned to the country and built a home and studio in the Moonbi mountains north of Tamworth.

Painted and exhibited widely throughout the region, in both solo and group shows.

Gallery Red is a commercial, contemporary gallery located in the heart of Glebe, showcasing emerging and established artists.

Kylie 'Hoysie' Hoy opened her 'Just Admiring The View' Exhibition on Thursday which proved extremely successful. Many guests purchased works and numerous requested commissioned pieces for their homes and businesses.

With over 250 people in attendance, the evening was both busy and exciting.

INDEX. is a con­tem­po­rary Artist Run Ini­tia­tive in St. Peters, Syd­ney. Our aim is to allows artists to take risks and exper­i­ment with new work in a con­text that pro­duces dia­logue around the work and allows for the reflec­tion of peers. Eight long term stu­dios are com­bined with two short term project spaces to encour­age the diver­sity of dia­logue and increase the pos­si­bil­ity of chal­lenge or influ­ence across both gen­er­a­tional and dis­ci­pli­nary boundaries.

Our pro­gram ranges from solo and group exhi­bi­tions to devel­op­men­tal project space res­i­den­cies, per­for­mance events, read­ing groups and other dia­logue pro­duc­ing activ­i­ties. INDEX. is also com­mit­ted to cre­at­ing con­nec­tions with other local, grass roots orga­ni­za­tions, facil­i­tat­ing coop­er­a­tive arts and com­mu­nity con­ceived advocacy.

The Kerrie Lowe Gallery specialises in contemporary ceramics as well as painting, printmaking, jewellery and sculpture. We also support the ceramic community by providing Sydney’s only inner city outlet for ceramic supplies.

Located at the Sydney University end of King Street, our usual schedule features two concurrent exhibitions; one in the Shopfront Gallery and one in the Small Gallery.
