'Crosslands Reserve' has been maintained by Hornsby Shire Council since 1921. In 1987 the reserve was incorporated into Berowra Valley Bushland Park, forming 38 square kilometres of bushland, stretching from Pennant Hills to Berowra Waters. Things to do include: Picnicking and barbeques, bushwalking, camping (bookings required), fishing, canoeing, bike riding and nature observation. Facilities at the reserve include: Picnic shelters (larger shelter available for hire - seats 12 adults), free electric barbecues, toilets, parking, children's playground and bicycle track and the Track head for The Great North Walk. ...

Coba Ridge to Collingridge Point walking track is a pleasant day walk or mountain bike ride through Marramarra National Park, near Hornsby. It offers wonderful spring wildflowers and stunning views of Berowra Creek. If you’re looking for a nature walk that’s close to home but feels a million miles away, head to Marramarra National Park in north-west Sydney. Here, you’ll find Coba Ridge to Collingridge Point walking track. This mostly flat option treats you to beautiful views of the surrounding valleys and the calm waters of Berowra Creek on your way to Collingridge Point. The track is popular with families, mountain bikers and wildflower enthusiasts – visit in spring to see the landscape burst with colour. You’ll see pink and purple boronias, soft yellow spike wattles, tall flowering grass trees, and bouquets of white on the long leaf smokebush. The walking track starts at the end of Bloodwood Road and follows Coba Ridge fire trail for four kilometres. When you reach the junction, keep right and follow the track south for another one kilometre. You’ll reach an unfenced sandstone outcrop, with stunning views overlooking Collingridge Point and Berowra Creek....

Imagine finding a place in Sydney, hidden away, with water views in the middle of the bush with a unique vehicular ferry. Apple Tree picnic area is a popular waterfront rest spot, but it’s also the beginning of the Berowra walking track. Find access to parking, a café and toilets here. Apple Tree picnic area is only an hour’s drive from Sydney and one of the gateways to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park’s many walking trails, waterways and lookouts. Apple Tree picnic area provides an easily accessible spot to park your car and re-energise, before you head off into the park and explore. You can buy drinks and food at the café or make use of the shaded picnic tables and barbecues. The Berowra walking track begins at this point, but if you have a boat, you can also set sail from Apple Tree picnic area’s boat ramp....

Located in the west of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, Bobbin Head is a large area offering lots of attractions and facilities. As well as being a great place to bushwalk, paddle or go fishing, Bobbin Head is the perfect waterfront picnic spot. The area features barbecues, picnic tables, shelters and plenty of green space for an impromptu frisbee session or a spot of cricket. There’s also a children’s playground that’s sure to be a hit with kids and you can pick up a coffee at the Bobbin Head Inn Café or tuck into some beautiful Mediterranean cuisine at Galley Foods Restaurant and Kiosk. Visit Empire Marina Bobbin Head to hire a run-a-bout with fishing licence, or follow any of the number of walking tracks and collect maps and brochures from Bobbin Head Information Centre. Stroll the mangrove boardwalk behind the picnic area and see if you can spot some of the park’s many birds....

For an exhilarating day trip that’s sure to get the adrenaline flowing, try Mount Colah Station to Pymble Station cycle route, via Bobbin Head. It’s a great introduction to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, and bound to invigorate the senses, bringing a healthy glow to the cheeks. From Mount Colah Station, head south before turning left into Ku-ring-gai Chase Road. You’ll soon be winding your way through the park, revelling in the sights and sounds of the bush. It’s eight kilometres to Apple Tree Bay, with a great downhill run. Upon reaching Bobbin Head, stop for a refreshing swim and a well-deserved picnic lunch. Don’t forget to check out the historic Bobbin Inn Visitor Centre. Following the road round, it’s an uphill climb to the southern park entrance. From here take the short detour to see the fascinating Sphinx Memorial, a replica of the famous sphinx carved out of sandstone. From the edge of the park, it’s an eight kilometre ride along Bobbin head Road, turning south onto Pacific Highway, to Pymble Station....

Take time out from the rushed pace of life and take your lunch or coffee down to Barnetts Road Reserve and the Barnetts lookout. The creek looks so peaceful from up here and your troubles just seem to fly away over the valley. You can enjoy a picnic with a view, plus there's a small playground near the picnic area, so you can bring the kids along for some time in the great outdoors....

Ever dreamt of completing the legendary Great North walk? Why not try a taster, without wearing out your walking boots? Great North walk - Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, is a challenging section that winds through dense bushland within the park. Starting from Cowan Train Station, it’s not just the scenic wilderness views that will take your breath away. It’s definitely a track for the experienced bushwalker. Descending steeply, you’ll hardly believe you’re only an hour from the centre of Sydney. The track leads past the ruins of Rhodes boatshed and on to Jerusalem Bay. Stop here for a break and take in the spectacular views over Cowan Water before tacking the hard climb to Brooklyn. You might be in need of a beverage or two at the pub before catching the train at Hawkesbury River Train Station. Continue your Great North walk exploration by linking with Great North walk – Berowra Valley National Park towards Sydney or continue north along Great North walk - Brisbane Water National Park....

Discover the Hawkesbury Sandstone ridge tops and explore the tidal creek lines of Marramarra on this beautiful day walk. Enjoy easy walking along Marramarra Ridge trail down to Marramarra Creek. Stop for a while and enjoy picnicking and a refreshing swim at Marramarra Creek campground. Head off to explore the historic orange orchards, and in late winter, you can probably pick an orange from these historic trees. Continue along the walking track that takes you back up to Bloodwood Road along Smugglers Ridge. It’ll be impossible to miss the wildflowers in spring. Admire the beautiful colours of pink eriostemons and boronias, yellow peas and white epacris, as well as yellow and red bloodwoods and angophoras....
