Cloudlake Mountain Retreat is a 65 acre organic/biodynamic farm property, at 2,000 feet in a secret valley in the mountains near Ravensbourne National Park. It offers guests a blissful escape from their busy lives, so wake up to a water view in either of the two fully self-contained cottages, The Boathouse or Mother of Ducks Cottage, situated on their private lake. Both houses have wood fires, open decks overlooking the lake and campfires by the edge of the water. The Boathouse is usually just for two but can sleep six and Mother of Ducks usually sleeps four but can sleep six. For a longer walk and varied scenery, add in the Palm Creek circuit or Rainforest circuit on your way home. ....

The Hampton Visitor Information Centre is located at the junction of the New England Highway and the Esk-Hampton Road in Hampton, 30 minutes north of Toowoomba in south east Queensland. It is set amongst the tall timbers right on the escarpment of the Great Dividing Range at 715 metres above sea level. It is an accredited visitor information centre which offers a one stop shop for travel information on what to see and do in the area including national parks, lakes, bushwalking, bird spotting, antique and arts and craft shopping...and much more. The centre is staffed by friendly and knowledgeable locals who know all about the hidden gems of the region and are ready to help with directions, maps, brochures, accommodation enquiries and other travel assistance. It also has free WIFI for the travelling public's convenience. The centre is housed in 100 year old building. The warmth emanating from the honey coloured hoop pine walls and the wide planks of the tallowwood floors mixed with the smell of the linseed oil finish make this a delightful place to pick up tourist information, talk to a local and linger awhile. ...

Acland is a small rural town located north of Oakey, on the Darling Downs west of Brisbane. Acland is best know for its coal mine and had a population of between 200 to 400 residents before the mine was shut down in 1984 - at that time it was Queensland's oldest and smallest continuously worked coal mine. In 2008, the mining land was taken over and almost all properties surrounding the town had been purchased with the intention that they be demolished to expand to an open cut mine. Acland is still a mining hub in the Darling Downs ....

The park preserves one of the few examples of rainforest that originally covered much of the local area. This day-use park has short walks through rainforest and open eucalypt forest, which support an amazing array of native birdlife. The various walking tracks allow you to view features of the rainforest and open forest. While the walks are short - only one is longer than a kilometre - you can spend a full day exploring the park. You can discover some of the forest's more interesting features on the Cedar-block self-guiding walk. This starts at the picnic area near Gus Beutels Lookout, which provides a panoramic view of the range towards Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley.
