Sandy Point Camp is located in Dirk Hartog Island National Park, making it the perfect destination for a snorkelling and diving holiday. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful coral of the Shark Bay Marine Park, as well as a number of reef fish including coral trout, blue-lined emperor and scribbled angelfish. Sandy Point Camp itself is one of six designated campgrounds in the area. Accessible only by four wheel drive (4WD), it has no facilities and is essentially a wilderness camping experience, so please look after the island while camping and it will still be in good condition the next time you visit. Campfires are not permitted. Campers are advised to bring enough drinking water for the duration of their stay. Bookings are required. Francois Peron National Park is an ideal destination for bush camping, four-wheel driving, bush walking and beach fishing, along with swimming and boating within the Shark Bay Marine Park. Originally a pearling camp in the late 1880's, Herald Bight is now an informal campsite with toilets provided as basic facilities. Campers are advised to be self-reliant and to bring enough drinking water for the duration of their stay. This camping area is accessible only by high-clearance four-wheel drives. Tyre pressures must be reduced for the soft sand conditions. Caravans are not recommended due to the narrow and soft sand tracks. Bookings do not apply at this campground.
