Children of all ages will delight in bouncing on the giant jumping pillow, or hand feeding the native birdlife at afternoon feedings. Outdoor wine tasting, movie screenings and open camp fires are also a very popular feature of the park. Lake Cania offers excellent fishing for the sportsperson, as well as an abundant supply of table fish. The Monto region is steeped in gold mining history, much of which can be explored by 4x4.

Sandstone monoliths and weathered caves of vivid yellow and red ochres call Cania Gorge National Park home and you can experience a gamut of these on the Fern Tree Pool and Giant's Chair Circuit. This 5.2 kilometre round trip kicks off just near the picnic area and is just one of many different bushwalks in the gorge which is the perfect place to base yourself to experience authentic Australian bush flora and fauna and experience Queensland's Sandstone Wilderness. Unexpected lush greenery will meet you at the Fern Tree Pool, a unique site nestled amongst dry sandstone cliffs, beds and rocky outcrops. After criss-crossing the dry bed of "Doctors Gully" Fern tree pool is a permanent pool of water shrouded by lush ferns. Once you have taken the sights, smells and sounds in of the hidden oasis, head another 2.2 kilometres up to Giant's Chair Lookout, which takes in breathtaking views. It only takes three hours and some good H2O to make the most of nature's wild thrills, hills and adventures on this bushwalk of a gargantuan nature. You can hang up your boots after a good days hiking, relax and then do it all again on another trail tomorrow....

Lake Cania

Lake Cania is situated north of the Cania Gorge National Park about 11 kilometres from the Cania Gorge Picnic Area. The lake sits on the banks of Three Moon Creek which is a tributary of the Burnett River. The lake has a capacity of 88,500 megalitres and is constructed from earth and rockfill that reach over 44 metres above the level of the dam. There are numerous facilities available at the dam from great fishing and other water sports with boat ramp access, picnic areas, Public conveniences, kiosk and two camping and caravan parks. Fish from the shore or a boat. Lake Cania is noted for saratoga catches. Other species include bass, golden perch, silver perch, eel -tailed catfish, spangled perch, eel and snub-nosed garfish....
