The Jundah Caravan Park is located at the rear of the Barcoo Shire Memorial Park which fronts onto the main street, Dickson and is adjacent to the public pool. Access to the park is from Miles Street. The Caravan Park shares an ablution block with the pool or nearby in the Memorial Park and hosts its own laundry. The cool green oasis of the Memorial Park provides a beautiful setting for relaxation after a long drive. It's just a minute walk to the local general store, hotel and a five minute walk to the river where you can drop a line in and try your luck at catching a Yellow belly or catfish. Maybe the preferred menu is yabbies for an entree.

Taking in 60,901 square kilometres in South Western Queensland, "Barcoo" is the seventh largest shire in Queensland that offers an outback experience not to be forgotten. Travellers will encounter magnificent red sand hills, brilliant white ghost gums, rock formations, natural open grass lands and river flats. The three small townships of Barcoo include Jundah, Stonehenge and Windorah. These towns have history dating back as far as the 1870's. Pioneer graves, historic sites such as the JC Hotel Ruins, Magee's Shanty and Battle Hole are some of the iconic landmarks within this region. Home to the Shire's Administration Centre, Jundah is located on the banks of the Thomson River, just 30 kilometres above the "Barcoo Junction". This is where the Thomson and Barcoo River also meet to form Coopers Creek. Tranquillity is also the draw card to this quiet little town that has a population of 110 people. The historic building built in 1899 hosts a mural painted by school children in 1990 and the Barcoo Shire Museum depicts interesting relics from the past. Stonehenge is a quaint little town located 67 kilometres to the north of Jundah and situated on a Stoney ridge overlooking the Thomson River. The area boasts scenic views and astonishing landscapes. 35 kilometres below the "Barcoo Junction", Windorah is the last stop before Birdsville and rests on the edge of Coopers Creek flood plains. Close by, magnificent red sand hills rise from the black soil plains and present a majestic picture. The Information and Cooper Art and Craft Centre continue to provide a great information for visitors. A variety of events and functions are held within the shire and include the International Yabby Races at Windorah, Woolly Caulfield Cup Sheep Races at Jundah and the Bronco Branding at Stonehenge. Visitors will experience genuine country hospitality amidst the communities whilst travelling the country roads....

Begin your journey in Jundah, on the banks of the Thomson River with its panoramic river views and drives. Take the top road through to Windorah and relax under the majestic river red gums lining the waterhole at Cooper's Creek. Drive along black soil roads on the Barcoo River floodplains and boil the billy at the Barcoo River crossing. Discover the scenic River and Desert Drives in spectacular Welford National Park before returning the short distance to Jundah. This drive includes a mix of sealed and unsealed roads therefore a 4WD vehicle is recommended....

In Welford National Park, wind-blown sand dunes form a dramatic contrast to white-barked ghost gums, golden-green spinifex and delicate wildflowers. The Barcoo River, with its large permanent waterholes, dissects Mitchell grass plains and arid mulga woodlands. Remnants of Aboriginal heritage and use, including water wells and stone arrangements, are found throughout the park. A rare pise (rammed earth) homestead, built on this former grazing property in 1882, is now staff quarters. Watch wildlife, including colourful Major Mitchell cockatoos, mallee ringnecks and red-winged parrots. Red and grey kangaroos and wallaroos are a common sight at Welford. Drive the self-guided scenic tracks around the park. Go fishing (size and big limits apply). Enjoy bush camping at Little Boomerang or Trafalgar waterholes, on the Barcoo River. Camping fees apply....
