Arcadia Valley Escape is a farm-stay set on a 17,000 acre cattle property in central Queensland, two hours north of Roma. Fortified by the Expedition and Carnarvon ranges, it's the perfect place to escape the pressures of everyday life. On you way to Carnarvon Gorge? Why not enjoy the privacy of one of the four guest houses including the Homestead (10 people), Cottage (3 people), Bungalow (3 people), Shepherds Hut (2 people) and the Outpost (2 people). Open all year. Caravanning? No worries, park your caravan amongst the box trees, and enjoy your privacy alongside the mighty Brown river as you relax looking over their man-made wetland dams. Grab a mud map when you arrive and explore what the station has to offer. Caravanners must be fully self-sufficient as there are no facilities available. Enjoy a wine around the fire at night where you can catch up with fellow travellers. Open 1 April to 30 September. Characters Of Injune

Characters of Injune features nine sculptural silhouettes and accompanying historical stories of local pioneers. Commencing in 2013, the project was developed to ensure the preservation of Injune's history and to acknowledge the colourful characters who have shaped the town. Located near the footpaths each side of the main street it is an easy walk to view and read about the characters. Many characters have seating located near them. Looking Glass, The

The Looking Glass walking track is located within the Mt Moffatt Section of Carnarvon National Park. Sculpted sandstone outcrops, spectacular views from the highest plateau in Queensland and highly significant Aboriginal rock art sites are found in this remote section of Carnarvon National Park. This is a remote park of wild and diverse landscapes. Broad, sandy valleys of the Maranoa River are covered with open, grassy woodlands. Striking outcrops of sculpted sandstone rise above the trees. Wind has eroded a cave right through an isolated pillar of Precipice Sandstone standing by the Maranoa River, affording a 'looking glass' view. Allow one hour to complete the 1.9 kilometre Looking Glass walking track of a difficult grade. ...

Art Gallery, The

Be ready to be awed by what awaits you on this walk in Carnarvon Gorge National Park, as The Art Gallery contains some of the finest Aboriginal rock art in Australia. Just 5.6 kilometres from the trailhead, at the junction of Kamoloo Creek, a signposted access track leaves the main walking trail upstream of crossing number 10, providing a gentle climb to the escarpment base where the site is located. Boardwalks, interpretive signs and seating facilities provide optimum conditions for visitors to appreciate this diverse range of Aboriginal artwork without endangering it. This extensive gallery contains more than 600 stencils and 1300 engravings. Aboriginal rock art on the sandstone overhangs is a fragile reminder of the Aboriginal people who used the gorge for thousands of years for ceremonies and rituals....

Henricks Park

Henricks Park was initiated as a community project in 2002 by the artists of Injune and District. The land was donated to the Injune Community by the Henricks Family. Gladys Henricks lived on this site from the 1930s until her passing, the dwelling was subsequently relocated to a family property. With the support of the Council and the aid of Q150 and RADF funding, 60 willing volunteers set to work to transform the vacant land into a beautiful work of art that will 'Tell the Story of Injune' for future generations and visitors. ...

The Art Gallery Walk, Carnarvon National Park

The Art Gallery track is located within Carnarvon Gorge National Park. Hidden in the rugged ranges of Queensland's central highlands, Carnarvon Gorge features towering sandstone cliffs, vibrantly coloured side gorges, diverse flora and fauna and Aboriginal rock art. The 10.8 kilometre return Art Gallery track is of a moderate grade taking four hours to complete. Over two thousand engravings, ochre stencils and freehand paintings adorn the 62metre long sandstone walls of this significant Aboriginal site. The Art Gallery contains one of the best examples of stencil art in Australia. The main gorge walking track crosses Carnarvon Creek many times as it winds the 9.7 kilometres from the visitor centre to Big Bend. Side-tracks from the main gorge track lead to a range of sites including the Art Gallery site. The track is mostly flat, although the side-tracks involve steeper sections....

Tombs Circuit, The

The Tombs Circuit track is located within the Mount Moffatt section of Carnarvon National Park. This is a remote park of wild and diverse landscapes. At more than 1000 metres above sea level, the Consuelo Tableland is the highest plateau in Queensland. The Tombs Circuit track is a 5.8 kilometre circuit track leaving from the Visitor Orientation Area. It can also be walked as a 4.2 kilometre return track. More than 400 stencilled motifs (images) decorate the walls of a sandstone shelter below the bluff of sandstone known as The Tombs. The Tombs once contained burial chambers for local Aboriginal people. Skeletons were wrapped and bound in bark burial cylinders. Allow three hours to complete this walk of a difficult grade. When visiting rock art at The Tombs, please remember that the art is very fragile and can be permanently damaged by touching-even accidentally. Dust kicked up by visitors can also damage the art, as fine dust particles stick to the rock surface, covering the stencils. Please enjoy a close look at the rock art while remaining on the boardwalks, which have been built to prevent damage to the rock art....
