This well maintained little park offers affordable accommodation with clean amenities and friendly service. The park is situated right on the oceanfront with waves hitting a rock wall. The park is situated just South of Kellys Beach, a patrolled beach. Bargara Lakes Tavern is just five hundred metres south down the road that serves reasonably priced meals and has a takeaway bottle-o attached. There is also a small takeaway fish & chip shop one block north of the park that sells bread, milk and papers as well as other convenience items. Mon Repos Conservation Park and Turtle Rookery operates from November through till March and is just eight minutes drive from the park. Our park is only a short drive from the main shopping centre of Bargara as well as the Bargara Golf Course, Innes Park Golf Course and Bargara Bowls club. The are a number of good diving and snorkelling sites just South of the park as well as diving directly out the front of the park on a calm day. We can also arrange day trips to Lady Musgrave Island and Lady Elliott Island which leave from the town of 1770 about 90 minutes away.

Bundaberg city is just 15 minutes drive where one can go shopping, visit the Bert Hinkler memorial, Hall of Aviation Museum, botanic gardens, tour the Bundaberg Rum Distillery or visit the Ginger Beer Factory.

On a Sunday you can visit the Shalom Markets where they have fresh fruit and vegetables and local quality craft.

Bargara itself has some beautiful beaches, B.B.Q. areas, fishing and snorkelling. There are a number of good restaurants and coffee lounges.

Manta Ray Bommie Dive SIte

Manta Ray Bommie is not just one coral head, but a collection of bommies off the western side of Lady Musgrave Island. These bommies come in a range of sizes, in depths from 12 to 20 metres, with the biggest ones decorated with gorgonians, soft corals and sponges. Numerous reef fish populate these bommies, common being goatfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, sweetlips and parrotfish. Divers also regularly encounter turtles, stingrays and reef sharks in this area. But the main attraction is the manta rays that hover atop the largest of these bommies as they get cleaned by swarms of cleaner wrasse....

Entrance Bommie Dive Site

Located at the entrance to Lady Musgrave Island lagoon, Entrance Bommie is a large blade of coral sitting in 22 metres of water. This elongated bommie is riddled with ledges and caves, which are usually overflowing with baitfish. Feasting on these tiny baitfish are predators like trevally, coral trout and mackerel. Entrance Bommie is also a good place to encounter turtles, tasselled wobbegong sharks, whitetip reef sharks, giant moray eels, stingrays, eagle rays and a good variety of reef fish. Don't be too surprised if you find a large shark sleeping in one of the caves, as tawny nurse sharks, which can grow to over three metres in length, are often seen at this dive site....

Burkitts Reef Dive Site

Located in front of the town of Bargara, near Bundaberg, Burkitts Reef is a popular shore diving site that always provides a few surprises. The reef fringes the headland and varies in depth from two to eight metres and is covered in lovely hard corals. Nudibranchs are a feature of this reef, and divers will see hundreds of them, but also common are moray eels, wobbegongs, stingrays, crayfish and olive sea snakes. Typical reef fish include angelfish, butterflyfish, scorpionfish, wrasse and lionfish, but Burkitts Reef is also visited by pelagic fish so don't be surprised to see trevally, barracuda and even queenfish....

Hummock Lookout

Situated off the road to Bargara is the low-lying volcanic remnant known as "The Hummock" which, although only 96 metres above sea-level, offers visitors good views over the whole area. The ocean is visible to the east while, to the west, the sugar fields can be seen encircling the city with the smoke stacks of the Bundaberg Distillery and Mill on the horizon. Watch the moon rise over the ocean as the sun sets over the land. The Hummock holds an important place in local indigenous history. The Taribelang Aboriginal people were the first humans to inhabit this area. Their 'burning mountain' is the 'Sloping Hummock" of today. There is a large Aboriginal art mural at the site which depicts the violent story of Paddys Island at the time of European settlement. Paddy's Island can still be seen from the Hummock lookout today....
