Old Government House lies in the heart of Belair National Park, 11 kilometres south of Adelaide. It was built on the Government Farm as South Australia's first official vice-regal summer cottage residence (1860-1880), and was used by some of the early governors of South Australia; MacDonnell (1855-62) and Daly (1862-68). The Old Government House buildings now reflect how the wealthy of the Victorian era lived, with the main house displaying the style and accoutrements of the well-to-do and the servants' quarters the more modest furnishings of a working family. Featuring an elegant terrace and South Australia's first indoor plunge pool it stands as an excellent example of Victorian-style architecture. Visitors can also take a leisurely stroll through the one-acre garden; featuring a collection of cottage plants and flowers as cultivated in Victorian times, heritage roses and mature trees. The buildings are open on Sundays and public holidays from 1pm to 4pm. Guides from the 'Friends of Old Government House' conduct tours and show the different styles and furnishings in each building and share fascinating stories about this grand residence. The park also conserves native flora and fauna and has access to a beach for swimming and fishing. Hallett Cove Conservation Park is just 22 kilometres south of the Adelaide city centre. A series of walking trails run through the park.

The Reynella Winery is the site of oldest wine business in South Australia, established by John Reynell in 1838. After passing through several hands, the Hardy family purchased the business in 1982. Hardys association with Reynella dates from 1850 when pioneer and founder Thomas Hardy, worked for John Reynell during his first six months in Australia. Today, the historic Reynella Winery and Cellar Door remains a premier wine tourism destination. Cellar Door is also adjacent to many historic structures including the grand Reynell Homestead which dates from 1842 and Cellar Number One which dates from 1845. The Old Cave as it is more affectionately known is listed with the National Trust and is the oldest working wine cellar in Australia. Horndale Cellar Door has a fine selection of Red, White, Sparkling and Fortified Wines. With many medal winners in our stable you are sure to find a wine for that special occasion, or even some to put away. The cellar door is open for tastings and sales seven days a week. Adjoining the cellar is the old Number One Spirit Store, which has been converted to a function room and restaurant. The Adelaide Showground Farmers' Market has been operating since October 2006 and is South Australia's largest farmers' market. The Adelaide Farmers' Markets offer South Australian fresh, seasonal and value-added products direct to the consumer - the food at the market is produced by the people who sell it. Take a free guided viewing tour to learn the history of Haigh's and how they make premium quality chocolate from cocoa beans sourced from plantations around the world. See displays of original chocolate packaging, old machinery and early photographs. Special displays include Cooks Corner for gourmet products, chocolate sauce and chocolate couverture with free recipes. There's free coffee or tea while you select from Haigh's extensive range. Tours run for approximately 20 minutes. Please contact the Visitor Centre for tour times and to make a booking, which is essential. Factory is not fully operational on Saturday. Historic Glenelg Town Hall takes pride of place as the home of the Bay Discovery Centre, a social history museum interpreting the cultural heritage of Holdfast Bay. The mezzanine gallery hosts exhibitions by emerging and established South Australian artists which celebrate and explore Holdfast Bay’s beach culture and represent a diversity of media and practices ranging from paintings and photographs to ceramics, sculpture and jewellery. Artists featured in previous exhibitions have included David Archer, Andrew Baines, Robin Best, Christian Hall, Abbas Mehran, Tim O'Shea, Beverley Southcott, Claire Thompson-Richards, Leo Neuhofer and Gerry Wedd. The Bay Discovery Centre also features community and historical exhibitions, contributing to its distinctive blend of visual art, heritage and tourism.

There's nothing like a day at the races! Grab your fascinator, don your suit and cheer on the fillies at Morphettville Racecourse. Morphettville Racecourse is located in the suburb of Morphettville which is about five kilometres from the Adelaide city centre. The South Australian Jockey Club is South Australia's premier racing club and hosts around 60 race events each year over two race tracks at Morphettville. The TattsBet Adelaide Autumn Racing Carnival at Morphettville runs from March through to May, and includes feature days like TattsBet Adelaide Cup, Schweppes Oaks, Sportingbet South Australian Derby and Goodwood Day. Metropolitan races are also held every Saturday, excluding Easter weekend. Morphettville is situated on 25 hectares of picturesque gardens. Wanting to entertain or impress? Choose from these great viewing venue options: the Tapestry Pavilion, Chairman's Room, Diva Lounge, Leilani Room and Endeavour Homes Pavilion. Public transport is an easy way to get to the racecourse. Trams from Adelaide city, Hindmarsh or Glenelg will drop you at the front gates. Buses run regularly and stop on Anzac Highway and Morphett Road. There is also plentiful car parking available from the Morphett Road entrance, adjacent to the members' entrance. See you trackside!

The Unley Museum is a vibrant local history museum packed with activities, information, historical photographs and objects relating to the social, commercial and environmental history of Unley and its people. The museum was once a fire station, and still has many connections to its fiery history to track down with our Fire Station Hunt program. With over 12,000 photographs and things to look at, there are plenty of stories to uncover and secrets to discover. Our friendly staff can answer questions and provide tours of our galleries. We exhibit many things form our collection, including a 100 year old toy dog and a fire hose from the early twentieth century. Our exhibitions are always changing and we regularly exhibit contemporary art that complements our historical collection. The exhibitions contain games and activities for all ages to enjoy, you can even try your hand at sending a message in Morse Code. We provide a research service and can provide a history of your house in the Unley area and offer regular walking and bus tours of the area.
