Campbelltown Arts Centre is the South West Sydney region’s major cultural venue and cultural services provider. The Centre services an audience market and community that spans Campbelltown, Camden and Wollondilly Local Government Areas.

Campbelltown Arts Centre (CAC) was opened in June 2005 following a $15M capital development program undertaken by CCC in partnership with the NSW State Government to redevelop the City Bicentennial Art Gallery (established in 1988) into a contemporary multidisciplinary arts centre.

Campbelltown Arts Centre consists of exhibition spaces, workshop and studio spaces, a 180-seat performance studio, residency apartment, Sculpture Garden, Japanese Garden, amphitheatre and café.

The Japanese Gardens are a special gift from Koshigaya, Campbelltown's Sister City in Japan, and are located in the grounds of the Campbelltown Arts Centre. The Campbelltown Japanese Gardens celebrate the sister city relationship between Campbelltown and Koshigaya. The gardens were presented to Campbelltown by the citizens of Koshigaya on 10 April, 1988. The Gardens symbolise the beliefs and religion of both Shinto, the indigenous religion of Japan, and Zen Buddhism. The Campbelltown Japanese Gardens feature a traditional waterfall, koi pond, timber bridge, stonework pathways, lush plantings and a 16th Century designed teahouse, hand crafted by Japanese craftsmen. The aim of the garden is to obtain quiet solitude. The design represents elegant simplicity, lending itself to contemplation and heightened awareness. In a first for the Macarthur area, a community labyrinth has opened in Campbelltown’s Hurley Park to create a unique tourist attraction and walking space where people can meet, enjoy peaceful reflection and escape from the pressures of daily life. Campbelltown’s community labyrinth is made from brick in a classical seven circuit Cretan design, a variation of the designs seen across Europe and Scandinavia. Unlike a maze which is more of a puzzle, labyrinths are built without walls and flat on the ground and feature a pathway to the centre and back for quiet reflection and to exercise the right side of the brain. It has a 14 metre diameter and features more than 270 ceramic tiles around its perimeter. Come and visit Dredges Cottage. A Veterans Recreation Centre, and the only one of its kind in Australia, Dredges Cottage features and displays memorabilia covering all theatres of conflict from the Boer War in 1902 to Vietnam. Housed in an historic building showcasing late Victorian architecture, the centre gives you the opportunity to learn about past wars, and Campbelltown's involvement in them. A memorial wall set in the grounds records the names of local servicemen killed in action in two World Wars. All visitors are welcome. Groups are welcome by appointment. Tours of Dredge's Cottage are available each Tuesday and Friday. To book a tour, please contact John by email or mobile. You can request morning or afternoon tea for a gold coin donation per person. The Sculpture Walk showcases the artistic talent of local entrants in The Western Sydney Sculpture Award. This is a biennial competition and exhibition hosted by Western Sydney University, aiming to establish closer links between the university, artists and the community to provide a valuable educational and cultural resource for the region. The Sculpture Walk truly enhances the campus environment for teaching, learning and for the many visitors marvelling at the magnificent displays.
