Since 1989, the annual Festival of Steam at Thirlmere has grown to become one of Australia's premier steam events.
It's a community celebration of steam and nostalgia where locomotives of all kinds travel from afar, awakening the quaint village of Thirlmere with the enchanting echo of a steam whistle.
Throughout the village, there's all the fun of a country fair to be had with great markets and music rides (Sunday only).
Saturday is the day for train enthusiasts with steam displays at Trainworks and great photo opportunities with the special steam trains that will be there both days.
Sunday the village of Thirlmere is closed off to traffic (designated parking areas) with market stalls, amusement rides, steam displays, train rides and parade at 1pm.
The Festival of Steam is a unique and enjoyable event for the whole family!...
