Bard On The Beach - Greek Theatre

Hut 36 Addison Road Community Centre, Marrickville NSW 2204
In 2016, Bard On The Beach (BOTB) will be presenting William Shakespeare's powerful and thought provoking The Tragedy of Hamlet, at The Greek Theatre, Addison Road Community Centre in Marrickville. They are proud of their Sydney summer experience: classical theatre as it was meant to be: raw, traditional, honest and entertaining, and all while you picnic under the stars as the waves roll nearby. There really is no other theatre company like this. There are two new venues around Sydney in 2016, and an inaugural collaboration with Spectrum Now Festival in conjunction with The Sydney Morning Herald and ANZ. The season begins at Balmoral Beach Band Rotunda, running Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. Then on to Dunbar Park, Avalon, in March, and to The Greek Theatre, Addison Road Community Centre, Marrickville, after that. Please check the website for dates and times....

My Father's Left Testicle by Murray Lambert

142 Addison Road, Marrickville NSW 2204
A new Australian satire set against the grimy backdrop of a detention centre. Using very dark satirical comedy, this play vehemently holds a mirror up to this Nation, by challenging Australians to come face to face with the stark reality of Detention Centres. Applying age old theatrical techniques, the piece takes a political stance against Australia's refugee policies in an engaging and confronting way. Inspired by the effervescent form of Commedia dell?Arte the play utilises slapstick, acrobatics and clowning to explore what it means to be Australian, a refugee and a human. Daring to go to the darker side of comedy this play challenges that nationality is a biological roulette and asks not which country, but testicle everyone came from....
