The Blue House at Mountainside Wines is the perfect place to rest, relax and rejuvenate. Located at Mountainside Wines, a vineyard and winery at Warrak just north of Beaufort, The Blue House started life as the local post office. It was transported to Mountainside Wines in the nineties and has been refurbished. It is a self-contained cottage with a queen bedroom, fully equipped kitchen and wood fire. During your stay visitors to The Blue House can enjoy a vineyard and winery tour followed by a tasting of wines made at the winery on the property. With its own entrance, The Blue House is secluded and quiet. As television and internet access is not available, peace and serenity is assured. Trundle up to Wimmera Hills Winery and get a warm welcome. Jane and Benjamin Baker established the winery in 1997 and all wines are made on the premises hand picked from the vines. The vineyard is high in the upper reaches of the Wimmera basin where grazing country meets rugged forest. Sparse soil over shattered sandstone, this is the Pyrenees Ranges where great Shiraz is born. Get out and breathe the fresh air with beautiful walks to enchanted valleys, or challenging mountain bike tracks. Finish the day by tasting Benjamin's carefully handmade wines. In winter try a mulled wine made with Smoking Bishop syrup. You must taste the very special sparkling Shiraz. Stay the night in the gorgeous cottage at Wimmera Hills Winery. You will want to stop a while on the sun-filled veranda and muse over the large mob of kangaroos which come down from the hills to graze in the paddocks around the cottage. The Elmhurst Bush Nursing Centre has been providing medical care to country people from Elmhurst and the surrounding district for 100 years. To celebrate the Elmhurst Community has been busy organising a Bush Market to celebrate all that is great about their local Victorian region in the beautiful Pyrenees Ranges. The Bush Market is held at the Elmhurst Bush Nursing Centre, Green Street Elmhurst. Local produce, Devonshire teas, free activities for the kids, cakes and preserves, wine, plants, trash?n?treasure, delicious food. But wait, there?s more. When the evening rolls in you?ll start to hear the foot tapping strains of the famous Bushwackers band. The Bushwackers have been delighting Australians with great traditional boot-scooting folk music since 1975 and they are just as good as ever. The Grand Dance is held from 6:30pm also at the Bush Nursing Centre. A spit roast meal is included. Bookings essential.
