Designed by C Y O'Connor and built in 1898, the Goods Shed has recently been restored by the Collie Heritage Group and is also used for markets on alternate Sunday mornings. The markets have a variety of stalls including fresh fruit and vegetables, herbs, preserves, candles, soaps, books, jewellery, children?s toys, clothes and lots, lots more. The Coach Caf?, a restored dining carriage, will be open serving Devonshire teas, espresso coffee, toasties and a selection of cakes. The Bill Weir Rolling Stock Shed, located next to the Goods Shed, houses many wagons that are being restored by some very enthusiastic volunteers from the Collie Heritage Group. The sheds form part of the "Working Life Trail" and are open on market mornings and limited hours on Monday, Wednesday and Friday....

Weekend of Wheels Round the Houses Twentieth Anniversary

The Round the Houses, was a motorcycle championship event that was held in Collie since 1948. It consisted of several races around a road circuit bringing the quiet streets of Collie to life for one thrilling day. Spectators and competitors came from all over Australia to join in this exciting and entertaining weekend of motorcycles. Round the Houses brought between 2000 to 3000 enthusiasts to the Collie River Valley showcasing this as a great place to live and play. Unfortunately the race is no longer held due to insurance and other constraints. 2016 is the twentieth anniversary of the last ?Round the Houses? Motorcycle Race in Australia which was held in Collie. On November 12 and 13, 2016 a twentieth anniversary celebration will be held at the Collie Recreation ground, Quit Collie Speedway and MSW ? Collie Motorplex. The weekend will consist of: ? a parade of past competitors, ? show and shine, ? memorabilia display, ? Quit Collie Speedway Solos, Sidecars, Stock bikes and vintage motocross. ? The Wellington Dam Experience offers a range of attractions. Located near Collie in the southwest, the dam will enthral you with its history, beautiful drives, stunning views and the Living Windows display. A number of informative displays allow you to learn about the dam's construction history and heritage; it is also worth taking one of the picturesque walk trails around the dam and through the surrounding Jarrah forest. The trails offer spectacular views of the Dam. Make sure you stop off at the Water Corporation's Dam Lookout which offers a view over the dam wall and into Collie River Gorge. Fishing is a popular recreational activity at the dam, with catches of Redfin Perch, Rainbow Trout and Marron in season. It is imperative that you have a recreational fishing license which can be purchased from your local post office. A stop at the dam's cafe is recommended as you may be joined by a number of beautiful birds including Blue Wrens, Rosellas and Robin Red Breasts. Camping is available at Wellington Dam, which is just a three hour drive south of Perth. Camping in Western Australia's natural areas is a special experience. ...
